Concord University Football Player, Darnell Brooks Passes Away Suddenly, Leaving Behind His Devoted Mother, Kristina Brooks!

Darnell Brooks, a beloved student-athlete at Concord University, tragically passed away on July 7, 2025.

While the cause of his demise is not disclosed, reports suggest that his passing was sudden.

Darnell Brooks Was A Wide Receiver On The University’s Football Team!

Originally from Charleston, West Virginia, Darnell Brooks was a talented young athlete and student who played as a wide receiver for Concord University’s football team in West Virginia.

He was recognized for his dedication to sports, leadership, and commitment to academic and personal growth.

A proud alumnus of George Washington High School in Charleston, Darnell played varsity football from 2012 to 2017.

He joined Concord’s football program around 2016 and quickly earned the respect of his teammates and coaches with his strong work ethic and positive attitude.

At Concord, he joined the Mountain Lions as a wide receiver, standing 6’2″ and weighing 190 pounds.

Wearing jersey number #80 during the 2017 season, he contributed to the team’s offensive unit.

While he may not have earned high-profile accolades, his presence on and off the field left a lasting impression.

Though he redshirted his freshman year in 2017, Brooks remained deeply committed to the program and was consistently praised for his work ethic, leadership, and team-first mentality.

Beyond football, Darnell was admired as a humble, uplifting young man who made others feel seen and valued.

The sudden and tragic passing of Darnell Brooks has left his family, friends, and the broader community in deep mourning.

His mother, Kristina Brooks, shared a heartfelt post on Facebook saying:

This weekend I lost the love of my life. My son was my world. It still doesn’t seem real to me. He lived life to the fullest and I loved him more than anything. Darnell Brooks rest in heaven. There will be a celebration of life in the coming weeks.


Additionally, Darnell’s coach paid heartfelt tribute, saying:

Darnell was the kind of player who lifted up the whole team—not just with talent, but with his attitude and his presence,” a Concord coach shared. “He worked hard, loved deeply, and gave everything he had, on and off the field.
