Corey Hartz, a York, Pennsylvania native and former high school athlete, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at an untimely age of 31, leaving his family and loved ones devastated.
While his family has not yet revealed the details surrounding the untimely death of Corey Hartz, many of his loved ones are paying tribute to him and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.
One wrote, “Central family took a big loss, RIP my guy❤️.“
Another added:
“Another life taken too soon! RIP Corey! Man! This needs to stop! I coached Corey my first year out of high school and he was in 7th grade! Well mannered and respectful kid! RIP buddy! You’ll be missed down here! 😢.”

Corey Hartz Was a Varsity Football and Basketball Standout at Central York High School
Corey Hartz was a standout multi-sport athlete at Central York High School, where he graduated in the Class of 2013.
Standing 5’8″ and weighing 157 pounds during his senior year, Corey excelled in both varsity football and basketball, serving as captain for both teams.
In football, he wore jersey #11 and played quarterback and defensive back throughout his high school career.
His football teams consistently performed at a high level: as a senior in 2012, the team went 8-4 with a 4-1 conference record (2nd in the conference) and ranked #73 in the state and #1693 nationally.
As a junior in 2011, Corey led the team to 10-3 with a 4-1 conference record (2nd in conference), state rank #30, and national rank #712, as a sophomore in 2010, the team went 4-6 (1-4 in conference, 6th place), state rank #199, and national rank #4433; and as a freshman in 2009, the team went 8-4 with a 6-1 conference record (1st in conference), state rank #86, and national rank #1927.
Additionally in basketball, Corey’s senior team in 2013 went 24-5 overall with a 10-0 conference record (1st in conference), ranked #38 in the state and #1156 nationally; in 2012, his team went 20-12 overall with a 9-6 conference record (3rd in conference), state rank #113, and national rank #3284.
Beyond his on-field and on-court accomplishments, Corey demonstrated remarkable athleticism, recording a 4.5-second 40-yard dash, a 195-pound bench press, and a 405-pound squat.
He was actively involved in the varsity club and was certified in AED and CPR, reflecting his dedication to both teammates and the community.
Corey’s indefinable contribution to Central York High School and the York community will always be remembered.
Corey Hartz is survived by his parents, siblings, daughter, and the entire family. The family has yet to provide details about his funeral and memorial services.
