Corey Scott Kluber, who is famous as Corey Kluber, is a professional baseball pitcher. At the moment, he plays for the New York Yankees of Major Baseball League. Before this, Corey played for Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers.

On April 10, 1986, Corey Kluber was born in Birmingham, Alabama. Furthermore, he was born to Jim Kluber (gather) and Ellen Kluber (mother). However, not much information is available about Corey’s parents and his childhood.

Corey began his career as a baseballer after playing in the baseball team at Coppell High school. As a junior, Corey recorded a 2-2 win-loss record with 7.2 ERA Earned Run Average) in 25 innings pitched. However, it was a 12-2 win-loss record with a 2.05 ERA with 117 Strikeouts as a senior.

Likewise, in Corey’s freshman year, he was selected By the Padres. Later, Corey was transferred to Indians, and soon after that, Corey made his MLB debut in 2011.

However, before 2011 Corey tried various times to enter MLB, but every time, he failed. Sometimes he didn’t perform well, whereas sometimes, luck didn’t favor him.

In 2004, Corey almost got a chance to play in MLB, but he was not drafted due to Corey’s elbow injury.

However, Corey didn’t lose hope and kept on practicing. Finally, his hard work paid off, and Carey got a chance to play in MLB.

Professional Career 

As anticipated, Corey got picked by San Diego Padres in the fourth round of the MLB draft. Further, in 2007 Corey was given $200,000 as a signing bonus.

Shortly after that, in 2008, Kluber played for Fort Wayne Wizards; he played so well that he was named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week. Kluber was giving his best in every match. As a result, he received a promotion to San Antonio Mission in 2009. In 2009, he finished the season with an 11-13 win-loss record and 4.55 ERA.

However, in 2010, Cleveland Indians trades Kluber from Padres. Unfortunately, at that time, he could only make a record of 18-24. Hence, Padres didn’t mention Corey in the top thirty list of Padres farm systems.

Even though, after so many losses, Kluber didn’t lose hope and was optimistic that he would achieve greater heights one day. However, in 2012 Kluber was brought to replace starting pitcher Josh Tomlin.

Finally, Kluber got promoted after Brett Myres suffered an elbow injury in 2013. Since then, there has been a sudden shift in Kluber’s life.

Nonetheless, Kluber becomes the first pitcher to strike out 14 batters in consecutive starts. Fortunately, Kluber finishes the 2013 season with an 11-15 record and 3.85 ERA.

Rise to Stardom- Corey Kluber Best Season

Starting in early 2014, Corey began his amazing season, one of the best seasons as per many. On September 21, 2014, Kluber was named the American League Player of the Week.

Similarly, in just his second season, Corey wins AL CY Young Award. And hence becomes the lowest drafted player to win that award. In addition, in 2015, Kluber signed a five-year contract with Cleveland worth $38.5 million. Kluber was making records after records.

Furthermore, in 2016, Cleveland announced that Kluber was a member of the American League All-Star team. So, at last, Kluber finishes the 2016 season with an 18-9 record, 227 strikeouts in 215 innings, and 198  ERA.

In 2017, Corey couldn’t perform because he had a back strain. However, he returned with a bang and became AL PItcher of the Month for June.

Felicitously, Corey won the 20th match of the season in 2018 and set a milestone. Unfortunately, in 2019 Corey fractured his right arm and was placed on the disabled list. 

Then, in 2019, Cleveland trades Kluber to Texas Rangers. Unfortunately, Kluber was again diagnosed with a torn muscle and couldn’t play the season from Texas.

After that, in 2021, Kluber signs a five-year $11 million contract with the New York Yankees. Fortunately, in the same year, he earns his 100th career win.
