The former football player Cortland Finnegan lives happily with his wife, Lacey Finnegan. The pair got married in 2010 and have been together since then.

Finnegan played football in college at Samford. Then, in the 2006 NFL draft, the Tennessee Titans picked him in the seventh round.

After that, he would see his NFL journey surfing through many teams: St. Louis Rams, Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, and New Orleans Saints before retiring in 2015.

Standing at just 5’10” and weighing around 190 pounds, he often faced larger and more physically imposing opponents.

From the moment he stepped onto the field as a professional, Finnegan showcased his fiery demeanor and fierce competitiveness.

Besides being an exceptional football cornerback, Finnegan is known for his on-field incidents.

In 2010, Finnegan paid $5,000 as punishment for throwing Steve Smith from the New York Giants to the ground using his helmet.

The same year, he engaged in a heated altercation with wide receiver Andre Johnson of the Houston Texans. The argument escalated into a full-blown brawl, with punches thrown and both players ejected from the game.

While the incident was controversial, it exemplified Finnegan’s fierce competitiveness and willingness to stand up for himself.

Lacey Owens is the wife of the NFL star Cortland Finnegan. The pair got hitched on July 16, 2010, and they have three kids, two daughters and one son.

Cortland and Lacey’s firstborn is a daughter, Lyla Kelsey, named after Cortland’s sister and Kelsey Towns, a high school volleyball player who Cortland and his family became friends with while she was fighting synovial sarcoma.

Lacey was born in Newnan, Georgia. She went to Newnan High School and got her bachelor’s degree in business administration in Real Estate at the University of West Georgia in 2006.

She was good in her studies as she got good grades of 3 at college. Besides her regular classes, she was also an essential leader in the Delta Delta Delta Sorority, serving as Vice President of Administration and Director of Continuing Education.

Currently, Lacey is the Executive director of ARK 31 Foundation. Previously, she was the Director of Public Relations for the Keith Brooking Children’s Foundation.

In 2008, Lacey was part of Mr. Finnegan’s Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man of the Year Campaign. 

Lacey is active on social media as she has an Instagram account sharing her personal and professional life.

Cortland Finnegan: Early Life & Family

Cortland Finnegan was born on February 2, 1984, to  Linda Finnegan and Robert Grant. He has two elder sisters, Lela and Felicia. However, Felicia passed away when she was eight due to congenital Down Syndrome.

Finnegan and his sisters were raised by his single mother, Linda Finnegan. Despite the struggles and hardships of single parents, his mother never gave up on their education and passions.

Finnegan attended Milton High School in Georgia, where he excelled in football and track and field. He continued his athletic pursuits at Samford University, a small college in Homewood, Alabama.
