Craig Jones Kisses Gabi Garcia in Controversial Promo, Nearly Canceling The Historic Intergender Fight

The intergender fight was nearly called off after Craig Jones controversially kissed Brazilian legend Gabi Garcia during the weigh-in staredown of the first-ever intergender fight in August 2024.

Craig Jones, one of the best Jiu-Jitsu legends known for his leg lock techniques, has earned numerous prestigious grappling tournaments.

He shot to the limelight after his impressive performance at the ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club) World Championship.

Likewise, Gabi Garcia is no less with several wins to her name, including four times at the ADCC submission fighting World Championship and six-time IBJJF World Championship.

The BJJ black belt, Gabi, has also competed in mixed martial arts (MMA).

This fight was feared to have been canceled at one point after a Thursday promo saw Jones grab Garcia’s face and kiss her in front of cameras, which set off the Brazilian.

During the promo of the first intergender fight in August 2024, Craig made grand waves online after kissing Gabi Garcia.

Netizens across the globe criticized Craig for his inappropriate actions, leading to significant backlash.

In retaliation, Gabi shoved Craig, who walked past her and started swearing at the top of her lungs.

To everyone’s surprise, Craig shared the video of the incident on his Instagram, writing.

Fights cancelled. I guess Brazilians can’t take a joke.

Likewise, Gabi commented on the post, writing, “u cross the line! Enjoy your show.

The fight was almost called off after Craig crossed the fine line during the weigh-in staredown when he forcefully kissed the life out of Gabi in front of cameras.

He backtracked with a new Instagram post, writing, “The fight is back on.” The two appeared in the ring, disproving his earlier post.

Craig, one of the greatest BJJ athletes, was dominant over Garcia shortly after they entered the ring. However, there were no punches, and the two grappled each other.

The 6-foot-2-inch Gabi didn’t hesitate to give an excellent bout to the Australian star after surviving the first round.

However, a four-time ADCC champion, Gabi, the match’s ending saw Gabi tap out in the second round.

Craig ended up choking Gabi Garcia in the second-round submission, making him the winner of the match.

To everyone’s surprise, Gabi and Craig acknowledged each other respectfully before saluting the crowd.

Likewise, Gabi commented casually as if nothing happened on the video of Craig kissing her uploaded by Stuart Cooper Films on Instagram, writing.

Likewise, she almost cried, not out of disappointment but happily because of the overwhelming audience’s presence.

Following the match, Craig lauded Gabi for skipping her Hall of Fame in the ADCC event, which was being held on the exact dates.
