Cranston, Rhode Island Native Softball Player Michael Kelly Passed Away, Survived by His Wife, Natasha Kelly, and Two Daughters!

Michael Kelly, a Rhode Island Department of Transportation worker, passed away on February 16, 2025, at the age of 42, surrounded by his family.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Michael Kelly was the beloved husband of Natasha Kelly and the devoted father of two daughters, Sofia Rae and Mila Jo Kelly.

Michael S. Kelly was born to his parents, Shawn and Cheryl (Grimes) Kelly of Warwick, Rhode Island, as one of three kids in Cranston on September 18, 1982.

In addition to his wife and kids, Kelly left behind his two sisters, Tina Mello and her husband, Wesley Mello, and Alicia Blanchette and her husband, Jay Blanchette.

Michael Kelly was predeceased by his grandfather, John W. Kelly Sr., and grandparents, Paul and Shirley Grimes.

He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Massimo Calcagni, three nieces, five nephews, his grandmother, Fran Kelly of Coventry, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Michael’s funeral service is scheduled for Monday, February 24th, at 10:00 a.m. from the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory in Cranston.

It is followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Cranston.

RI DOT Worker Micheal Kelly and His Wife, Natasha Kelly, a Registered Nurse, Shared Two Daughters!

Natasha Kelly nee Calcagni was born to her parents, Mirella (Mancini) Calcagni, and Iyad Chahine.

She has been a registered nurse at the Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island since February 2017. Previously, she worked at Kent Hospital for four years, from 2013 to 2017.

Natasha received the very first DAISY Award at Kent Hospital. The DAISY Foundation established the award in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away at 33 of an auto-immune disease.

Originally from Cranston, Natasha studied psychology at Rhode Island College (RIC). She studied nursing education at the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI).

Likewise, she also went to Cranston High School West Voc/Tech.

A devoted family man, Michael cherished his “daddy and daughter” dates with his girls. Meanwhile, Natasha has yet to break the silence about his tragic demise.

Michael Kelly Was a Dedicated Highway Maintenance Operator with a Brief Navy SEAL Service!

Cranston native Michael Kelly worked as a highway maintenance operator at the State of Rhode Island Department of Transportation (DOT).

He worked as an account manager at North Eastern Tree Service for many years.

Michael was passionate about playing baseball and softball throughout his life. His involvement in sports helped him form a special brotherhood with his teammates.

He attended the CHSE class of 2001 and went on to serve briefly in the United States Navy SEAL Teams in Japan.
