Dallas Skaug, a former St. Louis Park High School volleyball coach and teacher, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, at the age of 86, surrounded by his family.
The St. Louis Park, Minnesota native Dallas Skaug was known for his exceptional athletic and teaching skills.
Dallas Skaug was born on September 20, 1938, in Tyler, Minnesota, to Clarence and Goldie Skaug, his late parents.

He grew up in Balaton, Minnesota, where he developed a passion for sports from a very young age.
Moreover, while attending Balaton High School, Dallas excelled in multiple sports, including basketball, football, and volleyball.
He later showcased his athletic skills while attending Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, where he earned his bachelor’s in arts in major education degree.
After earning his bachelor’s degree, Skaug pursued his master’s degree while living in St. Cloud.
Upon graduation, Dallas Skaug began his professional journey as a teacher at St. Louis Park High School, where he taught distributive education for 12 years.
In addition to teaching, Dallas Skaug also coached the girls’ volleyball team at St. Louis Park High School, leading them to several victories.
After retiring from St. Louis Park High School, Dallas Skaug worked as a salesman and public relations representative at Cray Research for 22 years.
His contribution to sports and the Minnesota community will always be remembered.
Dallas Skaug Leaves Behind His Longtime Wife Carol Jean Weidauer And Two Kids Behind
Many of his loved ones are sending their heartfelt condolences to Dallas Skaug’s longtime wife, Carol Jean Weidauer, son, Marc Skaug, and daughter, Michele Elston Skaug, during this difficult phase.
Moreover, Dallas Skaug was married to his beloved wife, Carol Jean Weidauer, for over six decades.
The couple first met at Balaton High School and married on November 25, 1961. They remained happily married until Dallas’ last breath.
Talking about his wife, Carol, was born on December 25, 1941, in Minnesota. After graduating from Balaton High School, she attended Minneapolis’s beauty school.
Moreover, Carol began her career working in a salon in Edina; after their marriage, the family moved to St. Cloud, where she worked for the telephone Co.
The Skaug then moved to Minneapolis, where Carol worked as a hairdresser and rented a booth in a salon in St. Louis Park.
Later, she also worked in a dress shop and a manufacturing company for ladies’ clothing while Dallas pursued his career in teaching.
The late Dallas Skaug and his long-time wife Carol raised their two kids to succeed in their respective fields.
Dallas Skaug’s daughter Michele Elston Skaug, born in 1969, played volleyball while attending St. Louis Park High School.
She graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College, her father’s alma mater. She currently works at RM Stoudt, Inc., and is the proud mother of three sons: Ian Dallas, Oliver James, and Thomas Paul.
Michele and her husband, Wes Elston, also own Elston Lone Tree Ranch in Jamestown, North Dakota.
Dallas Skaug loved his grandsons and spent countless hours playing with them.
Moreover, Dallas and Carol’s first child, son Marc Dallas Skaug, born in 1967, maintains a private life and isn’t active on social media.
