American businessman and social media personality David Portney had a beautiful marital relationship with his wife, Renne Portney, whom he married in 2009. Nine years after their marriage, the couple parted ways, citing an irretrievable breakdown.
It’s been six years since they separated, but they have not gotten a legitimate divorce.
In 2023, David Portney and his estranged wife filed for a divorce, but the judge denied their petition.
During his appearance on the Call Her Daddy Podcast in May 2024, when the podcast host asked the Barstool Sports founder about his current marital status, he revealed that he is still technically married. Meanwhile, he said,
I tried to get a divorce. We filed the paperwork, and the judge looked at [the petition] and said “nope he has too much money,” and wouldn’t accept it.
In their divorce arrangement, Dave expressed his desire not to divide his assets with his estranged wife and to maintain a joint bank account.
However, a Massachusetts judge declared the arrangement ‘unacceptable,’ dismissed the divorce petition, and even tried to provoke Renne, as Dave said.
They [told Renee] “he’s trying to screw you,” but I wasn’t.’ We both want the best for each other … I was trying to buy a house in Nantucket … [but] I couldn’t get the house … if I gave her half of everything I have.

Just a month after the judge officially dismissed their petition, Dave bought a $42 million harborfront property on Nantucket Island and has enjoyed his lavish life since then.
On the other hand, he has given his wife Renne full access to his $250 million net worth so that she can have the life she always wanted.

Per her Instagram bio, Renee Portnoy is actively rescuing and fostering dogs around Boston, Nantucket, and Wellington in association with Jet Wag Animal Rescue.- saving the underdogs, one by one.
She also runs an Instagram account under Renee Rescues and uploads pictures of several rescued dogs.
Her motto is to inspire people to adopt dogs rather than buy expensive ones.
Not only that, but Dave Portnoy’s estranged wife has an involvemnet in a fundraising program and has collected $3,060 to this date.
Well, her love for animals started when she was 8 years old. In her now-deleted blog on SmartPak’s website, she wrote that she has loved horses as far as she can remember.
So, in 2010, she joined Smartpak and started working with horses. She also participated in a riding horse competition.
