David Diamante Ethnicity: The Ring Announcers Origin & Religion

This article was last updated by on

David Diamante comes from a family of white ethnicity. Diamante was born in Baltimore but has called Brooklyn his home for the longer part of his life.

The American ring announcer, David Diamante, is noted for his announcement style, but he has also garnered attention for his appearance. And it’s all thanks to his five-foot-long dreadlocks, which he hasn’t cut for three decades.

Maybe that is why the question of his ethnicity also arises. Many aren’t comfortable seeing five-foot-long dreadlocks on a white man, but nobody seems to have a problem with David rocking it.

The ring announcer is also a globe trotter and is always seen holding a cigar wherever he goes and for whichever interview he sits for. Recently, the announcer was seen in Helsinki, and a week before, he was working for DAZN in Belfast.

David Diamante Ethnicity: The Ring Announcers Origin & Religion

David Diamante’s ethnicity is constantly spotlighted when anyone sees his long dreadlocks. But his ethnicity is quite simple. He comes from a White family and was born and raised in Baltimore.

In an interview with the YouTube channel Boxing Life Stories, he briefly described his background. The ring announcer said his mom’s family was boujee, and his dad’s side was from the wrong side of the tracks.

Though his family goes back five generations in Brooklyn, his parents decided to raise Diamante in Baltimore due to endless fights in his family. But he kept coming back to Brooklyn and now owns a cigar lounge.

During his interview, David also said his father comes from an army background and has always been a stern man. It was through his father David entered the boxing world.

He said his father was his first trainer and his first opponent. David’s father worked as a trial lawyer, and his mother worked as an educator.

The ring announcer also talked about his relationship with his uncle. If Diamante and his dad’s relationship was not always the best, his relationship with his uncle was the opposite.

It was through his uncle that the announcer got into playing drums and riding motorcycles. On his Instagram page, the ring announcer can be constantly seen traveling from one country to another.

It’s almost as if he never hits the brakes on his life. Diamante has never clarified whether he believes in God or follows any religion. He has also not shared any particular Instagram posts celebrating any religious festivals.

David Diamante And His Famous Dreadlocks

Ever since he came into the public limelight, David Diamante’s long dreadlocks that go past his waist have also made headlines.

The last time he let scissors come close to his famous assets was in 1988 when he was a senior in high school. In his interview with The New York Times, Diamante said there was a change in his life, and it felt right to stop cutting his hair.

He further said, “Will I cut it tomorrow? Maybe. Will I cut it later today? Maybe. Probably not. I try to go day by day and not to future-trip too much.”

The announcer said it’s not as if he never thinks about the future. It’s only that he wants to live in the moment and be present in the moment.

Some have said what he is doing is cultural appropriation, but nobody from the boxing world seems to be too bothered about David’s hairstyle. There is also a belief that David has a spiritual relationship with his hair, but he never seems to talk much about his hair.

The man has dedicated his entire life to boxing, and that’s the only thing he loves talking about and wants to be known for by the fans and his peers.
