On Friday, the Arizona Cardinals made a significant announcement, revealing that Hopkins has been released, marking the end of his three-season tenure with the organization.

This decision comes after a period of uncertainty surrounding Hopkins’ future in Arizona, which began following changes in the team’s general manager and head coach positions at the conclusion of the 2022 season.

DeAndre Hopkins Brother

Marcus Greenlee is the older half-brother of DeAndre Hopkins and was born from his mother’s previous relationship. He was an exceptional athlete, excelling in both football and basketball during his time in high school.

Following his successful high school career, Greenlee made the decision to further his athletic pursuits and enrolled at Georgia Military College.

Except for these, not much is known about Marcus as he likes to keep his personal information private because he likes to stay lowkey.

DeAndre Hopkins Family Tree

DeAndre Hopkins was born on June 6, 1992, in Clemson, South Carolina, to Harris Steve Hopkins and Sabrina Greenlee.

Hopkins has two sisters, Kesha Smith and Shanterria Cobb, and one brother, Marcus Greenlee. Shanterria is the youngest sibling.

Before his mother, Sabrina, married his father, Harris, she had already been in two relationships and had two children, Kesha Smith and Marcus Greenlee.

Kesha Smith is an accomplished individual who graduated from Southern Wesleyan University.

In 2014, she embarked on a new chapter of her life by relocating to Houston. There, Kesha pursued her passion for basketball as both a dedicated trainer and an exceptional athlete.

She became an integral part of Houston Energy, a prominent team in the Independent Women’s Football League, where she showcased her skills as a slot receiver.

Alongside her basketball career, Kesha’s role as a trainer allowed her to share her knowledge and expertise with aspiring athletes.

His little sister, Shanterria Cobb, agreed to play basketball for Texas Southern University in 2016.

She was good in high school basketball and three-time all-region selection in basketball.

Furthermore, Hopkins’s uncle, Terry Smith, played football as a wide receiver at Clemson.

After not getting drafted by any teams, he became part of the Indianapolis Colts’ practice team between 1995 and 1996.

Accident

DeAndre’s early life was marred by a tragic incident involving his parents, Sabrina and Steve Hopkins.

It was a rainy day shortly after DeAndre’s birth in 1992 when tragedy struck. Sabrina and Steve were driving their car when it slipped on the wet road, resulting in a devastating accident.

Tragically, Steve Harris Hopkins lost his life in the accident, leaving behind a grieving family. DeAndre, just five months old at the time, was left to grow up without his father.

As if the family hadn’t endured enough, another heartbreaking event occurred later on. Savannah Grant, an assailant, perpetrated a horrific act against DeAndre’s mother, Sabrina.

Pouring a scalding mixture of acid and chemicals on her, the attack caused severe burns that penetrated her neck, resulting in the loss of her sight forever.

In a desperate bid to save her, Sabrina’s boyfriend rushed her to a hospital, and later she was transferred to another hospital in Georgia to receive specialized care.

The consequences of this traumatic incident were immense, leaving Sabrina with permanent physical and emotional scars.

However, justice prevailed in 2003 when the attacker responsible for this heinous crime was accused, standing trial and subsequently receiving a 20-year prison sentence for the offense.
