Smith recalled the strong bond coaches develop with their players, one that lasts long after graduation.

Today is a tough day for Delsea Football and the Franklinville community as we mourn the loss of one of our own,” Smith wrote.

“When you lose a player it feels like you lost a family member. RIP Bailey Lenny. I appreciated your upbeat sense of humor and your love for the game. Thanks for the memories. Prayers to Lena Jester and family.”

“On 8/16/25 my soul was shattered,” she wrote.

“When the car accident took you, it took me too. I wish I was at the scene to hold you, kiss you, pray over you. You were always a Mama’s boy and will be forever. I will never be the same.”

Lena reflected on raising Bailey as a single mother, recalling how he became her purpose in life.

“It was you and me from the start. I raised you, but you taught me so much. As a single 18-year-old mom, you were my why. I don’t know how I can go on without you.”
