Former Denis Morris High School Student Athlete Peter Goodwin Died, Leaving Behind His Family!

Denis Morris High School alumnus Peter Goodwin passed away; however, the reason behind his passing remains unknown.

Peter Goodwin is survived by his brothers Paul Goodwin and Perry, and his mother. Thus far, it remains unknown if he was married or not.

He stood out as a student at Denis Morris High School and was a huge part of the Rowing Denis Morris team.

Goodwin continued in his athletic pursuit and was playing golf. He had earned a hole-in-one on the 19th hole at a charity event organized by the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Tasmania.

He won a prize worth $1,500, which included irons and a golf bag.

It was one of the alumni, Andrew Boggs, who broke the tragic passing of Goodwin to his friends and everyone who knew him via the Denis Morris High School Alumni group. He wrote:

Some terrible news for those around the late ‘80s and early ‘90s graduating years: word has been shared that Peter Goodwin has passed away. Peter had moved to Australia a few years ago.
Peter was a big part of DM rowing and went on to UWO after graduating, and he made a point of staying in touch with so many of us across the decades. Saying a prayer for Peter and his family today.

He was a dedicated student who actively participated in several areas. As a proud alumnus, Goodwin often returned to his alma mater to share his experiences.

In fact, the friendships he made in high school stayed strong even after they graduated. He kept in touch with old friends and was always there to listen to and support them.

Several years ago, Peter decided to move to Australia and was living in Melbourne, Victoria.

In the comment section, longtime friend Nino Di Teodoro, since they met in grade 6, wrote a heartfelt and nostalgic eulogy. He reflected on their shared memories and friendship, writing:

Pete and I were tight friends from the moment we met in grade 6. I remember laughing our heads off throughout high school as we broke the rules…then continued the fun through university when we were roommates for all 4 years at Western.
As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, we’ve lost a rock star and legend here on earth but the parties in heaven just got a little louder. Cheers to Pete and the smiles he created for everyone who knew him.

To Nino’s comment, Marcia Coutu said how Peter Goodwin also spoke fondly of him at elementary school parties.

Marcia also said that Nino was the first person who came to her mind when she learned of Peter Goodwin’s passing.

The entire Denis Morris High School alumnus especially around the late ‘80s and early ‘90s graduates are grieving his loss.

So far, details of his memorial service have yet to be published.
