The University of Central Florida (UCF) has made a highly anticipated move by hiring Scott Frost as the new head football coach.
The vacancy at UCF opened on November 30, 2024, after Gus Malzahn resigned to take the offensive coordinator position at Florida State under coach Mike Norvell.
Frost’s return was seen as the perfect move for UCF as the program seeks to regain its national relevance.

This five-year contract, running through the 2029 season, marks an exciting reunion for the program and Knight Nation, as Frost is one of the most successful coaches in UCF’s history.
His previous tenure from 2016 to 2017 saw a remarkable turnaround, leading the Knights to a perfect 13-0 season and a No. 6 ranking in the AP poll, earning him national coach of the year honors.

In just two seasons, he transformed the program, going 19-7 and guiding UCF to unprecedented heights.

However, UCF’s decision to bring him back signals a desire to recapture that former glory.
Additionally, UCF’s athletic director, Terry Mohajir, expressed his excitement about Frost’s return, emphasizing that Frost’s passion and love for the program were the key factors in the hiring decision.

Scott’s love for his players along with his leadership, enthusiasm and vision were pivotal in making the decision to bring him back to UCF.
