The Lions quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has shared little to no details about his wife or married life. But Bridgewater has two sons who are the main focus of his life.
Having retired from the NFL in February 2024 to turn his attention to coaching, Bridgewater is back with the Lions, who are eyeing the Super Bowl.
After announcing retirement, Teddy returned to his high school alma mater, Miami Northwest, and won a State Championship in his first season.
The Lions’ head coach, Dan Campbell, said they re-signed Teddy to bring a veteran presence inside the locker room and professionalism.
Teddy was a first-round pick for the Vikings in the 2014 NFL Draft. In 2016, the player tore his ACL and suffered other structural damage.
The injury almost cost Teddy his leg. After Minnesota declined a fifth-year contract, Teddy joined the Jets in 2018, but he was traded to the Saints before the start of the season.
In his ten seasons, Bridgewater played for the Panthers, the Broncos, the Dolphins, and the Lions.
It would be impressive and memorable if Bridgewater wins the Super Bowl title with the Lions after retiring in 2024, having believed he would never touch the football field as a player again.
Is The Lions QB Teddy Bridgewater Still Dating Erika Cardona?
Teddy Bridgewater and Erika Cardona began dating at Miami Northwest as freshmen.
The couple only revealed their relationship in 2017 after Cardona released a book based on her boyfriend.
Cardona wrote “Little Bear Teddy: Big Dreams Come True” in 2016 after Teddy suffered his unfortunate ACL injury that almost halted his career.
In an interview, Cardona stated she began writing the book when Bridgewater was recovering from his injury at the hospital.
Erika revealed that the book’s keynote was to teach kids that no matter how big their dreams are, they will come true as long as they put in hard work and effort.
The second book in the Little Teddy Series hit the shelves in September 2020.
The book “Little Bear Teddy: Big Change,” follows Bridgewater’s ups and downs with the Vikings, the Jets, the Saints, and the Panthers.
During the writing process of the second book, Erika underwent two biopsies on her thyroid.
Erika said she used Teddy as her motivation and included that in her book.
Though Erika said she was ready to prolong the series with other books, a third Little Bear Teddy hasn’t been published.
The webpage to purchase the book is no longer working, though Teddy still has it on his Instagram bio.
A picture shared by Teddy on his Facebook profile with a woman and his son, Theo, looks like Erica.
He hasn’t tagged the woman, nor is she present on the likes or the comment section.
Erica and Teddy might’ve wanted to keep their relationship lowkey.
There’s also a good chance the QB has tied the knot with Erica but hasn’t shared it publicly.
Teddy Bridgewater And His Relationship With His Kids
While speaking to the Detroit Free Press in 2023, Teddy Bridgewater said he wants to focus on his two sons.
In his interview, Teddy said after retiring from the league, he plans to be a father to his two boys and continue to impact his community.
He also previously told FSP Network that he chose to retire at the age of 31 because he didn’t want his son’s last image to be their dad getting carted off the field on a stretcher.
But Bridgewater is back in the league. Hopefully, this time around, he will have his fingers crossed that it will be smooth sailing.
Though Bridgewater said he has two sons, the coach/player has only posted photos of the one he calls Theo.
On his Facebook page, he shared a gallery of images of his son Theo’s third birthday, including the picture with the woman who is supposedly Erika.
Theo was seen with his dad on the sideline after their team, Northwestern Bulls, won the State Championship.
Teddy shared a sweet photo of him and his son making the Bull sign with their fingers, with Theo wearing his dad’s medal and holding the trophy.
We might know more about Teddy’s family dynamic after his sensational return to the Lions.
