Jahmyr has three adoptive siblings: Mz, John, and Ahmaad Tanner, who also played college football at Austin Peay State University. Moreover, he also has two biological siblings, Amy Gibbs and Linda Gibbs, who grew up together in Dalton, Georgia.

An Amazing Career Ahead, Thanks to the Family and Talent

Due to his close-knit and sporting brother, Jahmyr flourished in Football even before he entered high school.

At Dalton High School, Jahmyr had a tremendous career, earning Georgia 6-A Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-State, and Sports Illustrated All-American honors. He had 70 touchdowns and over 4800 rushing yards.

Though he had few great offers for College football, Gibbs eventually chose to play for Georgia Tech, but only till his Sophomore year. He also got the First-Team All-ACC honor during his second year at the university.

After switching to the University of Alabama, he also got honors, including Second-Team All-American, Second-Team All-SEC, Hornung Award Finalist, and Maxwell Award Semifinalist.

Due to his explosive speed, versatility, receiving ability, and obviously outstanding college career, he was selected as the 1st-round pick (12th Overall) in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Jahmyr undoubtedly has been a core player for the Lions over the past couple of seasons.

In his rookie year, he completed 945 rushing yards and 10 Rushing Touchdowns. He also got into the PFWA All-Rookie Team and was selected for the Pro Bowl.

Jahmyr’s second season with the Detroit Lions was special, too. He got into the Pro Bowl in two seasons in a row, and even set a record for the most Touchdowns (20) for the franchise.

He has been a consistent playmaker for the Lions, and he still has two more years with the Lions. The contract is worth $18 million over a period of more than four years.
