Devon Wylie reportedly had a net worth of $1 million before his demise. The former NFL player had penned four major contracts above $1 million during his time in the NFL.

During his four NFL seasons, Devon Wylie continued transferring from one team to another. He made his NFL debut with the Chiefs in 2012 but didn’t last long in the team.

He signed several times with practice squads but was never promoted to the active roster. His last major contract came with the Raiders, and he last played football in the CFL with the Toronto Argonauts. 

Before his passing, Wylie was trying to make a career in music and used to share videos of him singing at various restaurants and bars. Wylie was only 35 when he passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023.

Devon Wylie net worth before his demise is estimated to be $1,000,000. The majority of his net worth was accumulated during his playing day with the Kansas City Chiefs. 

Nowadays, many college players have huge net worths due to NIL, but that wasn’t the case when Devon played. The later football players’ first major contract was with the Chiefs. 

In 2012, the Chiefs drafted Devon as the fourth-round pick. He penned a four-year contract worth $2.5 million with the Chiefs and earned an average salary of $638,850. 

He also received a bonus salary of $455,400 on signing and another $455,400 as the guaranteed amount. Devon signed with the Cardinals in 2013 but only made it to the practice squad.

That same year, Devon joined with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but it was once again only limited to the practice squad. So, the salary was only $18,000 for a year.

His second major contract in the NFL was with the Tennessee Titans. He signed a two-year deal with the Titans worth $1 million and had an average salary of $525,000.

But his career didn’t last long with the Titans, and in December 2013, he signed with the Seahawks contract worth $6,000. He signed a minor contract like this with St Louis Rams as well in 2014, which was only worth $63,000.

In 2014, Wylie signed a two-year $1,080,000 contract with the 49ers, earning an average salary of $540,000. But that very year, he was waived. 

The last major NFL contract Wylie was part of was with the Las Vegas Raiders (then Oakland Raiders). He signed a two-year $1.1 million contract, but in September 2015, the Raiders waived him.

He joined the Atlanta Falcons but failed to get promotion to the active roster. Toronto Argonauts became his last football team, but the contract with the CFL team was never disclosed.

On August 1, 2017, several news outlets reported that the former Kansas City Chiefs player had been released.

During his career with the Toronto Argonauts, Devon made 14 catches for 166 yards and a touchdown in 13 regular season games. But even during his football career, Devon had been a singing enthusiast.

In 2015, he shared an image of him singing at a friend’s wedding ceremony. He also used to share videos of him playing guitar and singing on his Instagram handle. 

In 2016, Devon shared a photo of him jamming at a bar in Encinitas, California. During that time, he also promoted a pre-workout protein powder, “Psychotic.”

In 2019, he also shared a news article about him singing for eight straight nights at the San Diego Live Music. So, after quitting football, Devon was ready to make music his career. 

Only in August, Devon shared a video of him playing his guitar and singing at a bar. The former footballer truly loved music and was trying his best to make it his full-time career before his demise.
