Once involved in a bitter custody and name-change battle, Wade’s ex-wife, Siohvaughn Funches, now reportedly faces homelessness after decades-long fallout.

Dwyane Wade is a celebrated NBA legend, a three-time champion, 13-time All-Star, and Hall of Fame inductee.

Recently, he has been a co‑owner of the Utah Jazz and an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights alongside his wife Gabrielle Union.

In early 2025, Wade revealed he had 40% of his right kidney removed due to a cancerous tumor in late 2023.

Later, he was declared cancer‑free by Gabrielle Union in February 2025.

Dwyane Wade’s Ex-Wife Siohvaughn Funches Reportedly Facing Financial Struggles Despite Past Settlement!

Despite divorcing over a decade ago, Dwyane Wade’s ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches is once again in the headlines.

This time, due to claims of homelessness and financial hardship, despite having once received a reported $5 million settlement and monthly support.

Dwyane Wade married Siohvaughn Funches, his high school sweetheart, in 2002.

Their relationship started long before his NBA stardom, dating back to their teenage years in Chicago. Together, they had two children: Zaire and Zaya.

Their marriage began to unravel during Wade’s rise to NBA fame.

The couple officially divorced in 2010 after a prolonged legal battle marked by allegations of infidelity, neglect, and mental health concerns.

Wade eventually won sole custody of their two children.

Back in mid-2013, shortly after her divorce settlement with Dwyane Wade was finalized, Siohvaughn Funches staged a public protest in Chicago.

She sat outside the Daley Plaza holding a sign stating she was “on the streets” and implied Wade had left her homeless.

This came out despite having received a $5 million lump-sum settlement and more than $25,000 per month in financial support at the time.

Wade’s legal team swiftly responded, calling Funches’s protest a “mockery of homelessness” and noting that the financial obligations to her were fully met, arguing the claims were misleading.

Later, she trained as a Christian counselor, wrote books, and opened a nonprofit foundation.

However, reports in 2025 again suggest that she is facing homelessness and financial instability.

Other posts on Facebook and Instagram claim that Siohvaughn Funches is now homeless.

They allege she has publicly asked for help and is once again facing serious financial hardship.

After Four Years Of Divorce, Dwyane Wade Married Gabrielle Union!

On the other hand, Dwyane Wade has moved forward with a new chapter in life alongside his wife Gabrielle Union.

They began dating in 2008 while still in the midst of his custody battle. After a brief breakup in 2013, Wade fathered a child, Xavier Zechariah Wade, with another woman.

Union and Wade later reconciled and were married in August 2014. Together, they welcomed a daughter, Kaavia James, via surrogate in 2018.

Recently, Wade revealed how she was first introduced to his kids and the challenging transition she endured.

Her role in helping Zaya Wade during her gender transition has earned both Wade and Union praise from the LGBTQ+ community.

In Case You Didn’t Know

  • Dwyane Wade’s daughter Zaya, born in 2007, came out as transgender at age 12 in 2020, became an influential model and LGBTQ+ advocate, and graduated from high school in June 2025.
  • Wade is a minority owner of the Utah Jazz (2021) and the WNBA’s Chicago Sky (2023).
