Dean Scinto, a true sports enthusiast, passed away unexpectedly at 60 on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Harlem Hospital in New York City.
He was a true sports enthusiast and a lifelong fan of the New York Islanders, Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, and UConn sports.
Dean Scinto grew up in Milford and graduated from St. Joseph High School in Trumbull. Later, he attended Eastern Connecticut State University and earned his master’s degree from Sacred Heart University.
His strong work ethic was formed early, as he began working as a teenager at the Connecticut Post alongside his father and family.
After graduation, he built a successful career in electrical sales, working for respected companies such as Grand Light, Rexel, and, most recently, as an outside sales representative for Granite City Electric.
Moreover, Dean was a dedicated sports enthusiast, and his athletic prowess led to his induction into the Eastern Connecticut State University Sports Hall of Fame.
He was proud to be a member of the ECSU and Rockville High School Sports Hall of Fame Committees.
Undoubtedly, his untimely passing saddened the entire community, and many paid their heartfelt tribute to him.

Dean Scinto’s Family Mourns the Tragic Loss
Dean Richard Scinto, the son of Jeannette Tordoff-Scinto and the late John J. Scinto, was born on May 12, 1965, in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
He passed away unexpectedly at 60 at Harlem Hospital in New York City.
Dean was the beloved husband of Marie-Agnes Rose-Scinto.
He married the love of his life, Marie, in 1999, and they shared over 26 wonderful years of marriage, building a warm and happy home filled with love and laughter.
He was a kind, devoted, and loving family man, and his roles as a husband, father, and grandfather were the ones he cherished most.
Dean had a big heart and a warmth that touched the lives of everyone who knew him. His presence was a comfort, and all will deeply feel his loss.
His devoted wife, Marie Scinto; loving mother, Jeannette Scinto; stepchildren, Jessica Marie Margelony and her husband, Michael of Willington, and Alexander William Cal; and adored grandson, Greyson, survive him.
He also leaves his brother, John J. Scinto Jr., and his wife, Stacy; his sister, Carla Sissick, and her husband, Bryan; his brother-in-law, Mark Rose, and his wife, Karen; and his sister-in-law, Rita Green.
Moreover, many cherished nieces and nephews also survive him.
First cousins are an extension of brothers and sisters. I am grateful for a lifetime of gentle quips and the best hugs ever, and am so sad that I’ll never hear his laugh or “Leia Marie” ever again.

On the other hand, Dean was predeceased by his father, John J. Scinto, Sr., and his sister-in-law, Barbara LaMay, and her husband, Timothy.
His family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Valley Falls Cemetery, Vernon.
Instead of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Eastern Connecticut State University Foundation.
Checks made payable to the ECSU Foundation should be written with “Scinto Memorial” in the memo line and mailed to the Office of Development and Alumni Engagement, Eastern CT State University, 83 Windham Street, Willimantic, CT 06226.
