Stick Struggles In A Much-Needed Game
The player did not live up to the expectation in the second preseason game of the 2023 season against the New Orleans Saints.
A week after a solid performance against the Rams, the Chargers’ No. 2 quarterback was not consistent, finishing 21 of 41 for 233 yards with two interceptions and a lost fumble.
This is his fifth season but first as the backup QB. Per coach Brandon Stanley, Stick played the entire game against the Saints and had a slightly increased snaps rate, which was significant in Stick’s development.
“Easton needed to play in a game like this,” Staley said. “He was able to fight through some things. He was able to give us a chance to win in the two-minute drill.”
Although they struggled in the offense largely, the Chargers managed to convert only three of 15 third downs and two of five fourth downs.
