Elisa Celion And Jon Spoelstra are the parents of Erik Spoelstra, who is the head coach for the Miami Heat of the NBA.

Erik was interested in basketball from a young age which led him to play the sport during his college years at the University of Portland, where he made the varsity team as a point guard.

Despite not being able to make it to the NBA, he played professionally in Germany and also coached for some time.

However, due to back problems, he had to stop playing the sport actively and shifted his focus to coaching.

Over time, he became an expert in the intricacies of the game, which benefited him in his basketball coaching career.

Following his path, Erik was hired as the Miami Heat’s video coordinator in 1995.
