Elvis Andrus was born Elvis Augusto Andrus Torres on August 26, 1988, in Maracay, Venezuela, to Emilio and Elvia Andrus.

His father, Emilio, worked as a university professor but sadly passed away when Elvis was only seven years old.

Elvis has two older brothers named Erold and Erikson. In Venezuela, it is not uncommon for families to give their kids names inspired by famous non-Venezuelan figures.

However, when it comes to Elvis Andrus, he has said that he is not really sure whether he was named after the legendary Elvis Presley.

Despite his curiosity, his mother never disclosed the origin of his name, leaving him to speculate. Andrus has mentioned that it’s possible his father was a fan of Elvis Presley, but he cannot be certain about it.

Career

Elvis Andrus showcased his potential early on, leading to a significant opportunity when the Braves signed him at the age of 16.

He began his professional baseball career in 2005 with the Orlando Braves, where he joined the Gulf Coast League.

His potential garnered a lot of admiration from the tram management, and he was promoted to the Danville team later in the season.

Nevertheless, his MLB debut came not until 2009. On April 6, 2009, he made his major league debut as part of the Texas Rangers.
