His father, Emilio, worked as a university professor but sadly passed away when Elvis was only seven years old.

Elvis has two older brothers named Erold and Erikson. In Venezuela, it is not uncommon for families to give their kids names inspired by famous non-Venezuelan figures.

However, when it comes to Elvis Andrus, he has said that he is not really sure whether he was named after the legendary Elvis Presley.

Despite his curiosity, his mother never disclosed the origin of his name, leaving him to speculate. Andrus has mentioned that it’s possible his father was a fan of Elvis Presley, but he cannot be certain about it.

Elvis Andrus showcased his potential early on, leading to a significant opportunity when the Braves signed him at the age of 16.

He began his professional baseball career in 2005 with the Orlando Braves, where he joined the Gulf Coast League.

His potential garnered a lot of admiration from the tram management, and he was promoted to the Danville team later in the season.

Nevertheless, his MLB debut came not until 2009. On April 6, 2009, he made his major league debut as part of the Texas Rangers.

Andrus was traded to the Oakland Athletics on February 6, 2021, along with Aramis Garcia.

The following year on August 19, Chicago White Sox signed Andrus.

As for his nationality, he is a Venezuelan-American. He became a naturalized US citizen on July 26, 2019.

In June 2017, Andrus married his girlfriend Cori Fables in an intimate ceremony at his residence.
