On A Tragic Night In Washington, Alex Pineda Lost His Life In A Single-Car Crash

The accident occurred on the night of April 19, 2025, near the intersection of 57th Avenue South and Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Spanaway, Washington.

According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), a 20-year-old driver from Spanaway was driving a 2015 Infiniti Q50 eastbound on State Route 900.

The driver, reportedly speeding, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and roll onto its side.

Alex, a passenger in the car and a 32-year-old man from Redding, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver sustained injuries and was taken to Valley Medical Center for treatment.

The WSP later arrested the driver, charging him with two counts of vehicular homicide, citing excessive speed as the cause of the crash.

The King County Sheriff’s Office supported the investigation, which was led by the WSP.

The second passenger’s identity has not been released, but Alex’s death has sent shockwaves through the Redding and Spanaway communities.

Alex was born to Omar Pineda Sr. and his stepmother, Carissa Fields Pineda.

He grew up in Redding with his brothers, Omar Pineda Jr., Ernesto Mejia, and a younger brother whose name has not been publicly shared.
