Eric Hosmer’s brother, Mike Hosmer, is a stockbroker in Miami, but in contrast to his renowned brother, he avoids the spotlight out of personal preference.

Scouts described Eric Hosmer as “a left-handed batter with tremendous power” while he was rising through the ranks in Florida.

Although he is a free agent right now, he has previously played in Major League Baseball for teams like the Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, San Diego Padres, and Kansas City Royals.

The seventh-best first base prospect by Scout.com made his breakthrough in 2011 with the Kansas City Royals. In 2015, Eric helped the Royals win the series.

Who is Eric Hosmer Brother, Mike Hosmer?

The Hosmer siblings were born to Ileana, a nurse, and a firefighter, Mike. Mike Jr., 38 is the older brother to Eric, 34.

In the 1980s and 1990s, their father served as a firefighter in Miami. Mike Sr. simply knew he had to keep his kids away from that location.

Both Mike Jr. and Eric were athletes when they were young, but Mike Jr. gradually lost interest and assisted his father in bringing up Eric in a positive manner.

Mike lived a very private and content life as he grew older, keeping himself out of the spotlight.

He went on to become a stockbroker and now works in Miami for an established company.

Why Was Hosmer Released By The Cubs?

On January 13, 2023, Hosmer signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Cubs but was released on May 25.

He played 31 games for the team with a .234 batting average, two home runs, and 14 RBI before he was designated for assignment on May 19.

He is currently a free agent and is trying to sign with other teams.

There were whispers that Hosmer would join the Royals again. His best campaign was when he batted .918 with 31 doubles, 25 home runs, and 94 RBIs for the Kansas club.

He also played with the Kansas City Royals for seven seasons and received Gold Glove and Silver Slugger honors.

The 34 year old could return with no issue, but the Crowns manager Matt Quatraro says there is no reason for a reunion.
