Erin Spohr, wife of former Major League Baseball pitcher Daniel Serafini, has caused a stir during the ongoing Lake Tahoe murder trial. Despite acknowledging that her husband was having an affair, she has repeatedly sided with Serafini.
She even testified that she doesn’t believe he was involved in the brutal attack on her parents, Robert Gary Spohr and Wendy Wood, in their Lake Tahoe home on June 5, 2021.

The Shocking Attack And The Aftermath
In June 2021, Gary, 70, and Wendy, 68, returned home after spending the day boating with their daughter, Erin, and her two young sons.
What followed was a cold and calculated attack by a masked man. Security footage captured a person entering the home, hours before the assault.
Later, Gary Spohr was shot and killed, while Wendy Wood was somehow alive but suffered life-altering trauma. Unfortunately, Wendy took her own life in 2023, two years after the attack.
It wasn’t until 2023 that Daniel Serafini and his lover, Samantha Scott, were arrested for their involvement in the crime.
Authorities and Sources claimed Serafini killed his in-laws to gain access to the family’s $11 million trust and additional assets. Despite these allegations, Erin has firmly stood by her husband, maintaining that she doesn’t believe the man seen in the surveillance footage is Serafini.
The Affair And Family Tensions
Erin’s testimony suggests a complex and troubled relationship between Serafini and her parents.
She admitted that Serafini had a sexual relationship with Samantha Scott, the family’s former nanny. However, Erin downplayed the affair, explaining that she and Serafini had an open relationship, which she didn’t find particularly upsetting.
Despite this, Erin later learned through media reports that the affair had been more serious than she originally believed, as Serafini and Scott continued their relationship after his arrest. In court, Erin was dismissive, remarking, “Well, she ended up sleeping with my husband, so I guess so.”
