Buster and Lisa Olney tied the knot in 1996, marking the beginning of a shared journey that has spanned nearly three decades.

Their marriage is a proof of mutual support, with both partners thriving in their respective careers while raising their two children, Sydney and Jake.

Born and raised in Tempe, Arizona, she attended Marcos de Niza High School before pursuing higher education with enthusiasm.

Lisa earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Arizona State University, followed by a Master of Arts from the University of San Diego in 1995.

Her academic journey didn’t stop there—she later completed a Master of Library & Information Science at Drexel University in 2018, showing her dedication to lifelong learning.

Lisa began as an intern sports copy editor at The San Diego Union-Tribune, gaining early experience in the fast-paced world of journalism.

From there, she explored public relations, serving as an assistant account executive at Harrison Edwards PR and later as a public relations consultant and newsletter writer.

Her knack for communication led her to become the Director of Communications at USTA Eastern, where she leveraged her love for tennis to connect with the sports community.

Lisa’s professional journey also includes roles such as Membership Coordinator at Troon Golf and Board Trustee for the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation, where she contributed to educational and leadership initiatives for women.

Additionally, she served as a board member for My Sisters’ Place NY, an organization dedicated to supporting victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.

These roles highlight Lisa’s commitment to making a difference in her community.

Since 2016, Lisa has found her calling in librarianship.

She started as a Reference Librarian for Adult Services at the John C. Hart Memorial Library, where she helped patrons access resources and fostered a love for learning.

In March 2023, she took on a new challenge as the Osborn Library Manager at the Rye Free Reading Room in Westchester, New York.

Her role involves overseeing library operations, curating programs, and creating a welcoming space for the community—a perfect fit for her warm and engaging personality.

Beyond Her Professional Achievements, Lisa is Also an Enthusiastic Person Who Loves Tennis

A lifelong enthusiast, she spends much of her free time on the court, honing her skills and connecting with friends.

Her passion for the sport even influenced her career, as seen in her work with USTA Eastern.

When she’s not playing tennis, Lisa enjoys family outings, vacations, and capturing memories through photography, as evident from her cheerful Facebook posts.

Whether it’s a scenic trip or a cozy family gathering, Lisa cherishes creating moments that last a lifetime.

As the captain of the Dutchmen Ultimate, Hofstra’s ultimate frisbee team, Jake represents the leadership and teamwork that Lisa and Buster have encouraged.

What makes Lisa and Buster’s relationship special is their support for each other’s endeavors.

While Buster travels the country covering MLB games and breaking baseball news, Lisa keeps their family grounded with her community-focused work and active lifestyle.

Their Westchester home is a hub of love and activity, where they balance demanding careers with quality time together.
