ESPN sports journalist, Stephen A. Smith has built a remarkable sports hosting career that has earned him a significant net worth of $25 million as of 2024.

The NBA analyst hosts The Stephen A. Smith Show on ESPN Radio and works as a commentator on ESPN’s First Take.

With nearly 30 years of sports broadcasting experience, Smith is one of the most successful and highest-paid sportscasters.

As a result, the sports TV personality enjoys a comfortable lifestyle thanks to his substantial earnings.

Apart from his broadcasting career, he also has taken some acting roles, showcasing his versatility in the entertainment industry.

Stephen A. Smith Has Had A Remarkable Career That Has Contributed To A Yearly Increase In His Net Worth

Starting his career in 1994 as an NBA columnist for the Philadelphia 76ers, Stephen reportedly makes $13 million per year.

The sportscaster previously earned $5 million per year until 2019, when he signed a new deal with ESPN that increased his salary to $12 million per year, making him the highest-paid ESPN personality at that time.

However, according to the New York Post, he earned $8 million from his salary, while the remaining $4 million came from a production contract.

Since 2019, his net worth has increased by $2 million each year, but it appears he is ready for a significant leap now.

According to reports, Stephen was unhappy with his contract negotiations with ESPN and turned down a contract extension worth $90 million.

The network reportedly offered Smith a five-year extension at $18 million per year, but Smith was aware of his true worth.

In discussions about the issue on a show with Wallace, the sportscaster addressed his contract, which is valid until June 2025, stating that he wants a deal in the range of $100 million for five years, saying:

I’ve been no.1 for 12 years. I’m sorry, in our respective industries I win, and I’m fully aware of what I’m worth, and I will never apologize to that for anybody.

There have been reports that he is seeking a $25 million annual salary elsewhere, suggesting that he aims to position himself as the highest-paid sportscaster.

Stephen Is Also Engaged In Other Pursuits That Contribute To His Earnings And Lavish Lifestyle

In addition to his sportscasting career, Stephen has also ventured into acting, beginning with an appearance on General Hospital.

Furthermore, he has appeared in the movie I Think I Love My Wife and in several beef jerky commercials for Oberto.

He also boasts a remarkable radio career with ESPN and Fox Sports Radio, earning about $1 million per year from 2015 to 2019 for his Sirius/XM radio show.

The ESPN reporter purchased his primary home, a $1.9 million mansion, back in 2007 and also owns a luxury apartment valued at $7.35 million.

Smith also boasts a remarkable car collection that includes a 2015 Range Rover, a Ferrari 812, a Ferrari 488, a Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and many more.
