Kai DeBerry-Bostick’s mother publicly defended her daughter after the incident, stating, “She is not a bad person,” and assured that she would address what her daughter is going through.

Kai DeBerry-Bostick, 28, is a former Bowie State University cheerleader and an entrepreneur at KaiDesigns.

She studied Accounting at Bowie State University and attended McKinley Technology High School.

Originally from Newark, Delaware, she is currently living in Washington, D.C. and works for a government contracting office.

Recently, on May 11, 2025, she was involved in a serious incident at the Laurel Main Street Festival in Maryland.

She was caught on police bodycam footage removing a barricade and driving into a police officer before speeding through a crowded street fair.

She reportedly told officers she needed to get through the festival to get to work in Virginia.

However, they refused to let her pass, then she tore down police tape and proceeded to drive through the event, narrowly missing pedestrians.

She was arrested the same day and charged with assault and is currently being held without bond.

Her defense attorney argued that her car was blocked due to the festival, leading to an “unfortunate reaction” to the officer’s orders.

Kai DeBerry-Bostick’s Parents Express Their Support And Concern For Their Daughter!

While details about Kai DeBerry-Bostick’s parents remain private, it is known that they have spoken publicly about her recent case.

They have expressed their perspectives on the incident and their concerns for her well-being.

Her father, Khalid DaCitykid Bostick, acknowledged in court that her actions were reckless and stated that he understood if the court decided to suspend her license.

Likewise, her mother, Ms. DeBerry, publicly defended her daughter after the incident at the Laurel Main Street Festival.

She expressed shock after seeing the video footage of her daughter driving through the festival and said:

I wish the situation was different. I wish I was there. I would not have expected her to do something totally different from what the cops had asked her to do.

Additionally, DeBerry mentioned that Kai was going through some stuff.

She did not specify what Kai was struggling with, but expressed concern and stated that, as her mother, she intends to address it with her.

On the other hand, Nia Johnson and Nia Jones organized a GoFundMe campaign entitled “Hope for Kai—A Chance to Start Over” to support Kai DeBerry’s legal expenses.

The organizers emphasize that while Kai made a bad choice, it does not reflect her true character, values, or the love she has shown to others.
