Madison, Mississippi, mourns the untimely death of beloved native and former athlete, Gregory Johnston.
According to some reports, Gregory Johnston passed away in a tragic auto accident; however, the details surrounding his untimely death have not yet been disclosed.
Gregory touched the lives of many with his remarkable athletic skills and his kind, cheerful nature.
Beginning his athletic journey from a very young age, Gregory excelled in multiple sports and went on to play football at Jackson Academy.
Gregory played varsity football for the Jackson Academy Raiders, proudly wearing jersey #74 throughout his high school career.
Standing 5’11”, he brought strength and determination to the field. His commitment helped lead the program through multiple competitive seasons.
During his senior year in 2018, Gregory contributed to an impressive 9–3 overall record, with the Raiders finishing third in their district and earning recognition, ranking #1,731 nationally and #38 in the state.
Even earlier in his sophomore year (2016), he played a key role as Jackson Academy posted a 6–6 record, demonstrating steady growth. Gregory graduated in 2019.
Although he didn’t continue his athletic career, Gregory Johnston excelled in his career as a construction engineer.
After graduating from Jackson Academy in 2019, Gregory earned his degree in Construction and Building Engineering from Holmes Community College.
He proudly served as the owner of Apex Construction and Land, a construction service company specializing in general construction, site work, demolition, ROW Clearing, skid steer services, and Hazardous Tree Removal in Madison, Mississippi.
Gregory Johnston’s contribution to the community as an amazing athlete and engineer will always be remembered.

Gregory Johnston is survived by his parents, Greg and Michelle Johnston; his younger brother, Harrison Johnston; grandparents; uncles; aunts; cousins; and the entire family.
While Gregory’s parents, Michelle and Greg, haven’t released any statement regarding the untimely death of their beloved son, as they are currently grieving the loss, they often share pictures of him on social media expressing their love and pride.
Gregory’s father, Gregory ‘Greg’ M. Johnston, is thriving in his multiple careers as a respected real estate broker, attorney, and businessman.
He has been serving as the president of Old Town Construction of Madison, LLC, since 2010.
Additionally, he has been the owner of Gregory M. Johnston, Attorney at Law, P.C., since 2004, and a real estate broker at Old Town Reality and Appraisal Services since 1998.
Prior to that, Greg served as the Law Clerk to Justice Jim Robers in the Mississippi Supreme Court. Greg earned his Juris Doctorate, Law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1998, his BA in major Communication and Public Relations from Mississippi State University, and his high school degree from Jackson Academy.
