Lloyd Howell Jr., an American businessman, has been making headlines with his recent resignation from the NFLPA.
According to ESPN, Lloyd Howell Jr., who was serving as the NFL Players Association executive director, resigned on July 17, Thursday, ending his embattled two-year tenure as the leader of the union.
In a statement released by the union, Lloyd said:
“It’s clear that my leadership has become a distraction to the important work the NFLPA advances everyday, for this reason, I have informed the NFLPA Executive Comimittee that I am stepping down as Executive Director of the NFLPA and Chairman of the Board of NFL Players effective immediately. I hope this will alow the NFLPA to maintain its focus on its player member ahead of the upcoming season.”

While the reason behind Lloyd Howell Jr.’s resignation remains unclear, he has been attracting public attention due to a series of reports, including a 2011 lawsuit for sexual discrimination and retaliation, his role as a paid part-time consultant for the Carlyle Group, and more.
As Lloyd Howell Jr. continues to make headlines, many are curious to learn more about his personal life — including details about his wife and family — since the former NFLPA Executive Director has shared very little about his private life.
While the date of his wedding is not publicly available, Lloyd Howell Jr. and his wife, Patricia Stephens Howell, who is known for her philanthropy and charitable work, appear to have been married for decades.
Similarly, Lloyd Howell and his longtime wife, Patricia, are also proud parents of two successful sons, Lloyd Howell III and William Howell. The Howell family resides in Miami, Florida.
Their eldest son, Lloyd Howell III, is a former high school and college basketball standout who earned his bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University and completed a dual graduate degree from Florida International University, earning an MBA and MSIS with a focus on cybersecurity.
He also worked with his father at Booz Allen Hamilton as a Senior Consultant. Very little information is available about their youngest son, William Howell, as he prefers to maintain a low profile.
While Lloyd Howell Jr. and his wife Patricia Howell shared very little information about their marital life, a court document shows that on January 23, 2023, Patricia Stephens Howell filed a family law case for marriage dissolution/divorce against Lloyd Howell in the Miami-Dade County Courts, specifically at the Miami-Dade County Courthouse in Florida.
The case has since been marked as “Disposed – Other Disposed,” indicating that it has been resolved or closed through means other than a trial. However, neither Lloyd nor Patricia has released any statements regarding the reports.
Lloyd Howell Jr.’s Wife, Patricia Howell, Thrived As a Professional Dancer and Model
Patricia Howell, a Washington native and daughter of an Army Veteran, is a former professional model and dancer who is passionate about the arts and is known for her philanthropy.
Earning her Bachelor of Arts in political science from Howard University, Patricia began her career as a dancer and model from a very young age.
