Former motorsport team owner Eddie Jordan and his beloved wife, Marie (née McCarthy), were married for 46 years until his passing in 2025.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, he began his motorsport journey as a driver and won the Irish Kart Championship in 1971.

He gained fame as the founder and owner of the Jordan Grand Prix team, which competed in Formula 1 from 1991 to 2005.

His team was instrumental in launching the careers of several legendary drivers, including Michael Schumacher, who made his F1 debut with Jordan in 1991.

He made one of his final public appearances on live radio in February 2025. During this appearance on talkSPORT, he discussed his ambitions for the London Irish Rugby Football Club.

Also, at the end of the segment, he said:

Sorry guys, just a small thing, thank you. I’ve just come out of getting chemotherapy and I’m not 100 per cent together here guys. I’m just not myself at this moment in time. I’m a little all over the place, so please forgive me.

Tragically, Jordan passed away on March 20, 2025, at the age of 76, after battling cancer for approximately one year.

He had been battling aggressive bladder and prostate cancer, which had spread to his spine and pelvis.

Eddie Jordan‘s wife, Marie Jordan (née McCarthy), is a former Irish basketball player.

They first crossed paths in the 1970s in Ireland. During their meeting, Eddie was already making a name for himself in motorsport, while Marie excelled as a basketball player.

The beautiful couple dated for several years and eventually tied the knot in 1979.

They shared a long and loving marriage of 46 years, raising four children together: Zoe, Miki, Zak, and Kyle.

Marie has been described as a strong and wonderful woman, especially during Eddie’s battle with cancer.

The Jordan family-owned residents are in multiple locations, such as Cape Town, South Kensington, London, and Monaco.

Eddie passed away peacefully in Cape Town, surrounded by his wife, children, and other family members in the early hours.

His family released a heartfelt statement following his passing, saying:

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eddie Jordan OBE, the ex-Formula 1 team owner, TV pundit and entrepreneur.He passed away peacefully with family by his side in Cape Town in the early hours of 20th March 2025 at the age of 76, after battling with an aggressive form of prostate cancer for the past 12 months.

Williams driver Carlos Sainz shared a heartfelt note via X and said:

Extremely sad to learn that Eddie has passed away. A true icon and loved character of our sport. Passionate, loyal and truly one of a kind. He will be dearly missed. R.I.P.

His legacy in motorsport and his vibrant personality will be remembered fondly. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Eddie Jordan’s family, friends, and admirers.
