On the evening of April 22, 2025, a tragic car accident at Cherryvale and South Boulder Roads claimed the life of 17-year-old Evelyn Kear, a junior at Fairview High School.

The Evelyn Kear car accident has left her family, friends, and the entire community in mourning.

According to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Gabriel Moltrer, the accident occurred around 4:10 p.m. Evelyn was driving westbound on South Boulder Road in her Jeep when the crash happened.

A 45-year-old driver in a Ford F-150 was stopped at the intersection, waiting to make a left turn.

As the F-150 began its turn, Evelyn’s Jeep, reportedly disregarding a red traffic signal, entered the intersection quickly.

The F-150 driver braked but couldn’t avoid the crash. The front of the truck struck the rear of Evelyn’s Jeep, causing it to spin counterclockwise, overturn, and crash into a utility pole.

The impact was fatal. Evelyn suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The F-150 driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.

A passerby who witnessed the accident shared their narrative on Reddit:

“I was in the front of the intersection when it happened the white truck was trying to turn left and smashed into the black car that was going straight. The car that crashed was going straight and light was either yellow or fresh red when they entered the intersection and I could hear the car coming up behind me and could hear it speeding up to try to make the light and the truck was taking a left across traffic coming from the opposite way. The crash happened so fast it was hard to see what happened but within 10 seconds there were people gathered around the car that crashed trying to help the driver and the person driving the truck got out and immediately rushed over to the scene to try to help. I hope it brings some people comfort to know that the person that crashed was not alone and people immediately stepped in to try to help.”
