The latest tragedy intensifies the heartbreak for the Summers family, who lost their family member, Sha’nnon Pitts, in February 2024.
Sha’nnon Pitts, 19, passed away on February 15, 2024. He was born on November 8, 2004, in Winston-Salem to Mario Sha’nnon Pitts and Jacqueline Celeste Harrell.
He attended New Liberty Full Gospel Baptist Church, played basketball at Spraugh Recreation Center and Winsyon-Salem Preparatory Academy under Coach PK, and graduated with all A’s from Brittain Academy before being accepted to Louisburg College.

Sha’nnon had also been employed by Frotellia Restaurant.
His death was preceded by the passing of his great-grandparents, including Rosetta Harrell, Howard Harrell, and Benjamin Pitts Sr.
Less than two years after the family’s first devastating loss, another tragedy struck.
On Tuesday morning, a violent altercation at North Forsyth High School in Forsyth County, Winston-Salem, resulted in the death of a male student, Cameron, aka “Lil Nut,” and left a second boy critically injured.
As per Winston-Salem Police Chief William Penn, Jr., the incident occurred around 11 a.m. in what is believed to have been a school bathroom.
Cameron collapsed in the hallway following the altercation and did not survive. Police confirmed that the confrontation started as a fight between two male students, reportedly over a vape pen.
The school was immediately placed on lockdown following the stabbing, causing alarm among students and parents.
WFMY reported that parents were later reunited with their children at Joel Coliseum.
Investigators are still looking into the circumstances that led to the fight, and no further details about the critically injured student have been released.
Blurred video footage obtained by local news outlets shows a tense scene leading up to the stabbing.
Video of the st*bbing at North Forsyth High School at the top of the thread. @TheNCBeat blurred out parts to show respect to family of the deceased student imo. I think the public deserves a level of transparency about what happened. #school #violence https://t.co/WyqMUkthZ9

One student is seen walking down a hallway toward a restroom where multiple students have gathered.
The footage captures a fight erupting between Cameron and an unidentified student, after which Cameron collapses outside the restroom while another student is seen holding a knife.
Officials have not disclosed additional information about the video.
