Faruk Koca has a net worth reportedly in the millions. It won’t be hard to believe as Koca has a big reputation in several fields, including business and politics.
The Turkish soccer club, MKE Ankaragucu’s President, Faruk Koca, punched the referee, Halil Umut Meler following his club’s 1-1 draw with Çaykur Rizespor.
After the shameful incident, The Turkish Football Federation suspended all leagues. It is also reported that Koca and two others have been formally arrested for “injuring a public official.”
The Fifa president, Gianni Infantino, has also said the event was totally unacceptable. He said those actions do not have any place in the sport or society.
Faruk Koca Net Worth And Salary
Faruk Koca reportedly has a net worth of seven figures. The Turkish personality Koca has not only dwelled in the sporting industry in his country but also has political and business connections.
The 64-year-old is the President of MKE Ankaragucu and has been elected twice as a member of the Turkish parliament. He was the former deputy of the Turkish Grand National Assembly from 2002 and 2011.
Koca is also the founding member of the Free Trade, Justice, and Development Party. Koca has been serving as the president of MKE Ankaragücü since 2021.
Per the Transfer Markt website, MKE is the ninth most valuable club in the Turkish league. It is currently valued at €30.45m, which is still vastly lower than its rivals Galatasaray, Fenerbache, and Besiktas.
Nobody expected to see Koca’s anger on the pitch, as the president had previously won the Fair Play Manager of the Month award. Koca has tried to keep his personal life away from the public limelight, but it is believed that the Turkish club president has four kids.
As the club’s president, Faruk Koca has the role of maintaining and improving the club’s image. But he went out and did quite the opposite. As a club’s president, he also probably paid enormous fees to perform his role.
But going by his recent actions, it doesn’t look like he will see improvement in his salary. Some senior executives in England earn well over a million pounds, but that might not be possible in Turkey.
But Koca could be earning a salary of around six figures per year. The Turkish clubs do not usually hand out his information to the public, but seeing Koca’s connections, it’s not far-fetched stuff to imagine.
Action Taken Against Faruk Koca After Punching A Referee
After the incident, Ankaragücü’s official X account (formerly Twitter) issued an apology. The apology was shared two hours after the disgusting incident.
The statement read, “As MKE Ankaragücü Sports Club, we are saddened by the incident that took place this evening.
“We apologize to the Turkish football public and the entire sports community for the sad incident that occurred after the Caykur Rizespor matches at Eryaman Stadium.”
The Turkish Football Federation has suspended all Turkish matches in all leagues indefinitely. They also released a statement after the incident and condemned Kocu’s actions.
The Federation wished speedy recovery to referee Halil Umut Meler and wrote, “In coordination with our state, all criminal proceedings deserved have been initiated against those responsible and instigators of this inhumane attack.”
They further stated, “The responsible club, the club president, its managers, and all the criminals who attacked Halil Umut Meler will be punished most severely.”
