FAU Assistant Coach, Aaron Smith, and his wife, Keri Carson Smith, have two children together.
While Aaron Smith is still building his coaching career, he recently caught attention after Florida Atlantic men’s basketball Head Coach John Jakus announced the hiring of Aaron Smith as an assistant coach.
Aaron Smith & His Wife, Teri, Recently Celebrated Their 9th Anniversary!
The Florida Atlantic Owls men’s basketball team, which represents Florida Atlantic University, began as a small, struggling program and has faced decades of ups and downs, including several coaching changes.
Nonetheless, FAU rose to national prominence under Dusty May and achieved its first Final Four in 2023, a historic milestone that defines its legacy.
Currently, John Walter Jakus is the head coach of the team, succeeding Dusty May.
Similarly, Aaron Smith recently joined FAU as an Assistant coach in September of 2025. Smith boasts a rich history as both a player and coach, steadily advancing up the ranks.
Before joining FAU, Smith served as an assistant coach for one year at Longwood University and three years at Louisiana Tech.
During his tenure at Louisiana Tech, he helped the team achieve 20 or more wins in back-to-back seasons.
He also coached standout players like Isaiah Crawford (CUSA Player & Defensive Player of the Year) and Daniel Batcho (CUSA Newcomer of the Year).
Similarly, while at Longwood, Smith helped recruit the best class in program history and shifted his focus to guards and wings.
Besides coaching at the University level, he also served as the Head coach in high schools.
Furthermore, he also had a brief but interesting professional basketball career, during which he was the 4th overall pick in the 2008 CBA Draft and won the CBA Championship in 2009 with the Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry.
With such an outstanding portfolio, Aaron Smith has huge expectations on his shoulders.
Since the FAU team is also new to HC John, together they are expected to create a dream team that will build a legacy for FAU.
However, Smith has his wife, Keri Carson Smith, cheering him on and supporting him in every endeavor. The couple recently celebrated their 9th anniversary.
Together, they have built a beautiful family with their two children: Cameron and Nicole.
Aaron often posts pictures of himself with his family on Instagram and has received immense love and support from his well-wishers.
While Aaron is busy with his assistant coaching role, Keri has also built a career for herself.
She is an entrepreneur, writer, and artist. She has an Instagram page named Nicole Camille Designs with 10K followers, where she sells handmade jewelry and bags.
Furthermore, her jewelry designs are unique and beautiful, with a primary focus on tribal and animal prints.
Meanwhile, Keri also has a dedicated page for her writing passion named @kerismithwriter. She mostly writes women’s fiction, mystery, and romance.
Similarly, Keri is also a passionate artist and showcases her acrylic paintings on her separate art account.
However, her art style is diverse, ranging from abstract art to floral paintings and digital art.
Therefore, Keri is not just a supportive wife and mother but also a multi-talented woman, carving her own name.
Furthermore, Aaron and Keri’s shared faith in Christianity also brings them closer.
