When it comes to the NFL, Arthur Smith is a name that has steadily risen in prominence.
From his early coaching days with the Tennessee Titans to a stint as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, and now as the offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Smith’s football resume speaks volumes.
But behind the plays, pressure, and press conferences is a figure who’s been a constant source of strength: his wife, Allison Smith.
Arthur Smith’s Wife Allison Is His Rock
Allison Smith is the wife of Arthur Smith and mother to their three children: Tanner, William, and Sophie.
While Arthur commands the field, Allison largely stays behind the scenes, preferring to keep her life private and out of the spotlight.

Unlike many in the world of professional sports, the Smiths are not known for social media oversharing.
In fact, public information about Allison is scarce, which proves how fiercely the couple protects their family’s privacy.
However, what we do know paints a picture of a tight-knit family unit grounded in values, loyalty, and quiet strength.

After Arthur departed from the Atlanta Falcons at the end of the 2023 season, he and Allison took a trip “to the other side of the world.”
The journey was less about sightseeing and more about clearing his head and re-centering after a high-pressure job.
Insiders close to the family suggest that Allison’s background in media helped influence Arthur’s new approach to handling life, football, and the limelight.
Arthur has gone on record several times stating that his wife and kids are his biggest source of inspiration.
Whether preparing a game plan or making a career-altering decision, he credits Allison for being his rock.
Their home base is Atlanta, Georgia, where they’ve built a life far from the glitz of NFL fame.
Arthur Smith’s Father, Fred Smith, Was The Founder Of FedEx
Arthur Smith’s coaching story is deeply intertwined with football royalty, not because of NFL lineage, but because his father was Fred Smith, the legendary founder of FedEx.
Fred, who passed away at age 80 in 2025, was more than just a shipping magnate.
A Marine Corps veteran and visionary entrepreneur, Fred also held a minority stake in the Washington Commanders, where Arthur began his NFL journey as a defensive quality control assistant.
Arthur knew early on that he wanted to make a name for himself outside his father’s shadow. In a 2021 interview, he explained:
“You’re at the entry level, and they’re hard jobs to get and I was lucky to be in that, but to legitimately move up I knew I had to get away.”
Move up, he did.
After 12 years, Arthur held a head coaching job in Atlanta and now leads the Steelers offense, but he always credits his family as the foundation for his success.
