According to a statement from Alabama basketball coach Nate Oats in January 2023, Darius’ mother is a police officer, and his father is a retired veteran.

Darius Miles faces a capital murder charge related to the January 2023 shooting death of Jamea Harris near the University of Alabama campus.

He has been accused of aiding and abetting his friend Michael Davis, who was convicted of capital murder in May 2025. Darius’ trial is scheduled to begin on December 1, 2025, as set by Tuscaloosa Judge Daniel F. Pruet.

Throughout this challenging period, his parents have been visibly involved in supporting him.

The former Alabama player has been in jail since January 15, 2023, and hasn’t been allowed out on bond. He continues to say he’s innocent and is waiting for his chance to explain everything in court.

Through all of this, his parents and girlfriend, Skylar, have been by his side, giving him comfort and support.

Their presence in the courtroom speaks volumes about their support, as they stand by their son during this serious legal battle.

His mother, despite her demanding role as a police officer, has reportedly taken time off work to be present for her son. Likewise, they moved to Alabama to be close to him, ensuring that he followed every rule the judge placed on him if he were granted bond.
