David Lee Farley, a devoted family man, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, at his home in Rockport, Maine.
He left behind his wife of 61 years, Carole Lee Farley, and his children: son Thomas J. Farley and his wife Lisa J. Farley, daughter Michelle L. Heald and her husband Charles P. Heald, and daughter Gretchen M. Richards and her husband Sean C. Richards.
In addition to his wife and kids, David Lee Farley is survived by his seven grandchildren: Charlotte A. Seiferth and husband Spencer Seiferth of Durham, Morgan L. Dennison and her husband Ryan Dennison, Dr. Jacquelyn C. Richards, Mallory L. Farley, David C. Richards and his wife Cheyenne Richards, Elizabeth M. LeMar and her husband Dayton Bragg, and Hannah Heald.
Farley’s life journey began in Rockport, where he graduated from Rockport High School in 1962.
Two years after his high school graduation, Farley married Carole Lee Farley of Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1964.
The long-time married couple made a tight-knit family of five members with their three kids. Carole stood like a rock through all his highs and lows until the day he took his last breath.
After his tragic passing, Carole changed her Facebook profile picture to one featuring her with him. Likewise, David’s daughter Gretchen M. Richards and granddaughter Mallory L. Farley also updated their respective Facebook profile pictures to include images with him.
David also left behind his five great-grandchildren: Abigail & Chloe Dennison, Brooks & Easton Seiferth, and Clayton Richards.
A life celebration ceremony to honor and remember David’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 24th, 2025, at the Rockport Opera House.
David Lee Farley Held Several Role in His Lifetime but Made Significant Impact as an Entrepreuner!
Born in Rockland, ME, to parents Thomas and Charlotte Farley on August 11, 1943, David lived his life to the fullest.
Throughout his 81 years, David took on numerous roles, including Rockport’s animal control officer, firefighter, school board member, and the town sexton.
An avid hunter, David mentored many young hunters. His passion for hunting lives on through his son, grandson, and numerous friends and neighbors.
However, it was David’s entrepreneurial journey that made quite an impact.
His entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly when he purchased a small caretaking and landscaping company in 1974, which he grew into the thriving business known today as Farley Inc.
It comprised of a green Jeep truck, two pushmowers, and some hand tools. He ran Farley Inc. (previously known as Farley & Son) until his retirement in 2016.
From 1988 to 2016, David Farley also owned and operated Hoboken Gardens, Inc. in Rockport.
