Former Athlete Robert DiMarco, 72, Passes Away, Leaving His Mother, Rose DiMarco, Sister, Donna, And Two Daughters

Robert DiMarco, an accomplished athlete himself during his youth, passed away on Thursday.

Born on June 26, 1952, Robert Dennis DiMarco grew up in Neptune, NJ, and graduated from Neptune High School.

He received his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Glassboro State College and enjoyed a long career at Pepsi and the Asbury Park Press.

Robert was a fan of all sports and was quite an athlete himself during his youth. He loved hanging out at the legion with his friends, playing shuffleboard and darts.

In the summers, he enjoyed going to the beach, betting on horses, and floating in his daughter’s pool with a beverage.

The number one thing Robert loved to do more than anything was be with his family and friends.

Robert Dennis DiMarco, 72, who was known as “Bobby or Bobby D,” took his last breath on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

Bonnie O’Rourke Yutko offered his heartfelt condolences through his social media by stating,

Adele Barlow, a dear friend of Robert, also poured her heartfelt condolences. She wrote,

My sincere condolences to the DiMarco family.Bob was a dear friend for many years, and I will always cherish the memories we shared during the good old days. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.May he rest in peace.

Bruce Luther and his family also sent prayers and heartfelt condolences to Robert’s entire family by stating,

My deepest sympathy goes out to Mary Pat, Maggie & Family. I have known Bobby for 50 years. During that time we worked at Pepsi, bowled for over 30 years attended the National Bowling Tournaments along with sharing vacations with our kids. Each vacation was an adventure from cabbing in Fair Haven, whale watching in Bar Harbor Maine and site seeing in Canada we came home with a lot of memories! To say Bobby and I knew each other is an understatement! We were close throughout the years. Bobby will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace my friend.

Closed ones and relatives have poured their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to Robert’s family to stay strong in this challenging time.

As per Robert’s family, the celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 12 pm to 4 pm at Ely Funeral Home, located at 3316 Hwy. 33 Neptune, NJ.

Instead of flowers, the family has requested that plants be sent or donations be made to the American Legion Post #336.

He will always be remembered for his unforgettable contribution as an athlete. Rest in Heaven, Robert Dennis DiMarco.

Robert Dennis DiMarco Is Survived By His Mother, Sister, And Two Daughters

Robert Dennis DiMarco was born to his mother, Rose DiMarco (Hagedorn), and his late father, Anthony Joseph DiMarco.

Although his parents stayed out of the media spotlight, they always supported Robert in achieving his academic and athletic goals.

He grew up with his one brother, Anthony DiMarco, and two sisters, Diane Cochren and Donna DiMarco.

His sister Diane and brother Anthony have already passed away. Their cause of death has not been mentioned yet.

Robert has kept his wife out of the media, but it is known that they have two daughters: Mary Pat Gallota (DiMarco) and Margaret DiMarco.

As per the source, Margaret has been engaged to Erik Merkerson.

Moreover, Robert had four grandchildren: Olivia, Remi, Francesco, and Raina.
