Barnwell High School’s standout athlete Keyshawn Jenkins passed away, leaving everyone devastated.

Keyshawn Jenkins was a dedicated student-athlete who built his identity through hard work, discipline, and commitment both on and off the field.

A native of Barnwell, South Carolina, Jenkins developed his passion for football while attending Barnwell High School, where he started to stand out for his speed and determination as a running back.

He continued his athletic journey at Newberry College, where he played as a running back for the Wolves.

Standing at 5 feet 10 inches and weighing 180 pounds, he brought agility and toughness to the position.

As a junior majoring in sport management, he balanced the demands of college athletics with his academic responsibilities.

Off the field, he was known for his work ethic. He held jobs at Aeropostale and McDonald’s.

Community Is Mourning The Tragic Death of Former Football Player Keyshawn Jenkins

Keyshawn Jenkins Is Survived By His Mother, Phinaki Antwanette Jenkins

Running back Keyshawn Jenkins was born on March 11, 1999, to his mother, Phinaki Antwanette Jenkins, and his father, whose identity has not been revealed.

Phinaki went to Denmark Olar High School and later studied Early Childhood Education at Walden University in 2015.

Recently, Phinaki took to her Facebook handle and mourned the tragic loss of her son, Keyshawn. She wrote,

Keyshawn mommy loves you and miss you so much. To see all the lives you’ve touched fills my heart with so much love. You said to me God put you on this earth to protect me not you’ve gone and left me this is so unfair my heart hurts so bad son. If love could have saved you you never would have leftforever my boy
