Vienna, Georgia resident, Bailey Barfield, passed away unexpectedly on April 28, 2025, at the age of 24, from a suspected substance overdose.
The beloved former Crisp County High School athlete, Bailey Barfield, died in a tragic incident that authorities suspect may have involved a fentanyl-related overdose.
The Worth County Coroner’s Office reported that Bailey Barfield and a man named Morgan Young were found unresponsive at a residence around 6:00 a.m. on April 28, 2025, and were pronounced dead at the scene.
A third individual, whose identity has not been disclosed, was rushed to Tift Regional Hospital for urgent treatment.
According to Coroner Jimmy Nelms, preliminary investigations point to a suspected overdose, with fentanyl strongly considered as a contributing factor.
Autopsies for Bailey and Morgan are scheduled for April 29, 2025, at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab.
Bailey Barfield is survived by his parents, David and Stacey Gilbert Barfield, and extended family members.
At the moment, neither Stacey nor David has broken their silence surrounding his tragic demise.
The married couple of 31years, Stacey and David, were more than proud of their son Bailey.
Occasionally, his mother, Stacey, a graduate of the University of Georgia, would upload Bailey’s picture, acknowledging his achievements or milestones.
For instance, on 2021 National Sons Day, Stacey took to her Facebook to express her love for her son, writing:
Bailey you are my pride and joy every single day!! I love you more than you know❤️❤️

Bailey Barfield was born and raised in Vienna, Georgia, and attended Crisp County High School, graduating in 2019.
After graduating, Bailey pursued higher education at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, where his love for agriculture and rural life took root.
Bailey’s career brought him to Simplot Grower Solutions, one of the premier farm companies in North America, which has a reputation for extensive assistance to farmers.
After his unexpected passing, numerous people have expressed their condolences. Among them, his close friend Shelby Saxon shared a lengthy eulogy in his memory. She wrote:
Bailey became one of my first best friends at ABAC and I wouldn’t have changed it for anything in the world! He was always so kind and sweet. He would do anything for one of his friends in a heart beat. He was one of my best friends.
