Sean Egan Battled Cancer Three Times During His Life!
Sean Egan competed in regional and state-level championships and demonstrated his talent in events like the Catholic High School League meets and the Northwest Ohio Classic.
He earned All-State honors and was ranked 14th in DCC’s all-time swim standings for the 2019–2020 season.
Additionally, he was a key member of the DCC Swim & Dive Team and also swam with Club Wolverine in Ann Arbor and the Hartland Hurricanes Swim Club.
Sean Egan battled cancer three times with incredible strength and positivity.
These battles occurred over several years, likely starting before or during his high school years (2017–2021) and continuing into his time at Michigan State University. The third battle led to his passing.
While exact dates for each diagnosis are not provided, the three battles spanned roughly 5–6 years, based on his high school and college timeline (2017–2023).
The final battle was noted as particularly challenging, with significant medical expenses and community support via fundraising.

Despite his illness, he remained positive and uplifting to those around him. Even in tough times, he never gave up.
Egan was also a student at Michigan State University and briefly played baseball before his cancer diagnosis sidelined him.
His legacy continues through the swim team’s award and coaches, teammates, and the DCC community.
Tommy Grace III, a fellow DCC’21 alumnus, expressed his sorrow over Sean’s passing and posted:
Catholic Central ‘21 Brothers: I am incredibly sorry to hear that our CC brother, Sean Egan, has passed away. May he Rest in Peace.
One of his well-wishers expressed deep admiration and said:
Sean was a true CC young man – having Goodness, Discipline and Knowledge. Sean was a kind soul with a generous heart and warm smile. I pray for his family and friends during this most difficult time.
To honor his spirit, the DCC Swim Dive team is naming the “Unbreakable” Team Award after him, a reminder of how he inspired us all.
Moreover, a GoFundMe campaign has also been set up to support his family, raising over $27,000 toward a $50,000 goal.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Sean Egan’s family, friends, and well-wishers.
Rest In Peace, Beautiful Soul!
