Former NBA star Calvin Booth, who was serving as the Denver Nuggets’ general manager since 2020, has been fired from his 5 years long position.

On April 8, 2025, Nuggets officially announced that they would not extend Calvin Booth’s contract just before the 2025 NBA playoffs.

Furthermore, this decision came after the Nuggets suffered a four-game losing streak despite their previous success, including winning the 2023 championship.

Alongside Calvin Booth, the head coach, Michael Malone was also fired from his position.

As news of Calvin Booth continues to capture attention, reactions from netizens have been mixed. While some believe his firing was justified, others argue that Booth didn’t deserve to be let go based on a few poor performances.

Similarly, many are now curious about Calvin Booth’s personal life, including details about his parents and family background.

Though former Nuggets GM Calvin Booth keeps a low profile and rarely discusses his parents and family, he comes from a lineage rooted in athletics.

Calvin Lawrence Booth was born on May 7, 1976, in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, to parents Calvin L. Booth Sr. and Gail L. Booth.

His father, late Calvin Booth Sr., excelled in basketball during high school and college and guided his son to become a renowned NBA player.

While his mother, Gail, didn’t play sports herself, she supported Calvin throughout his basketball journey and maintained strict standards when it came to academics.

Both of Calvin Booth’s parents emphasized the importance of education, often reminding him that education came first, no matter how promising his basketball future looked.

Gail Booth said,

We didn’t even think about NBA or sports, All we thought about was making sure he did well in school, did well in college and got a profession that could support a family

It was his parents, Calvin Sr. and Gail, who pushed Calvin Booth to excel both academically and in his basketball career.
