Pearland and Salt Lake City are mourning the unexpected death of 20-year-old Evan Chain, who died in a car accident on November 30, 2025, while on his way to work at Club Car Wash.
Evan was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, and completed 10th grade through the PACE Center, graduating in 2022 with a focus on public administration and social service professions.
He was also a proud member of the East club team back in Utah.
After moving to Pearland, Texas, he quickly became known for his warm smile, goofy personality, and kindness that touched everyone around him.
His mother, Shawnda Chain, shared the devastating news on Facebook. She wrote-:
“I’m at a loss for words… My Evannnnnnnn… my sweet 20-year-old Evan was in a fatal car accident early Sunday morning Nov 30th on his way to work,”

She added that she is struggling deeply but wanted to share the funeral details so friends could say goodbye.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at South Park Funeral Home, 1310 North Main Street, Pearland, TX 77581.
Family visitation is from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., public visitation from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and the service will run from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., followed by a dinner reception (location to be announced).
Shawnda asked anyone with photos or favorite stories of Evan to reach out, saying those memories warm her heart during this painful time.
A GoFundMe page has been created to help the family with medical bills and funeral expenses, with a goal of $16,000.
The fundraiser describes Evan as “an amazing young man who touched the lives of everyone around him with his kindness, warmth, and bright spirit.”
Every donation and share helps ease the heavy financial burden on his family.

Friends and family have filled social media with tributes.
Childhood friend Jessie Nuvan wrote,
“I’m sure gonna miss Evan! I was always looking forward to hear the next big thing he was gonna do… Love you Evan, can’t wait to hear all that you’ve done in heaven!”

“Jackie and I are overwhelmed. Evan is our grandson and the family is devastated by his death. Please pray for my daughter Shawnda and her family.”

Another friend, Halley Bedingfield, remembered him as “such a sweet and goofy boy” who “always made everyone smile” and “was such a light to be around.”
At only 20 years old, Evan Chain had a bright future ahead and a heart that made the world better for everyone who knew him.
His sudden passing has left a hole that won’t easily heal, but the outpouring of love and support shows just how many lives he brightened in his short time here.
Rest in peace, Evan. You will be missed more than words can say.
