Isaiah Maxi, a former football player at Fort Hays State University, tragically passed away on July 9, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 31.
The cause of his death has not been publicly disclosed.
Isaiah Maxi Was A Former Fort Hays State University Wide Receiver!
Born on January 1, 1994, Isaiah was a standout wide receiver known for his dedication on and off the field.
A proud 2017 graduate of Fort Hays State University, he showed steady progress and impact on the team during his college career.
As a freshman in 2013, he appeared in 10 games, making two starts, with five receptions for 78 yards and one touchdown.
In his sophomore year (2014), he started 10 of 11 games, ranking second on the team with 24 receptions for 224 yards and two touchdowns.
His junior year in 2015 was marked by playing in all 12 games, starting nine, with 11 receptions for 162 yards, averaging 14.7 yards per catch.
His season-best performance included five receptions for 70 yards against Nebraska-Kearney, featuring his longest catch of 35 yards.
From 2013 to 2016, he played football for four seasons for Fort Hays State University, serving as a wide receiver and team leader both on and off the field.
Before college, Isaiah was a highly regarded athlete at Center High School. Back then, he earned all-conference first team honors, as well as all-state and all-district selections in his senior year.
He averaged 19.6 yards per catch in high school and lettered four years in football and two years in basketball.
Beyond athletics, Isaiah was deeply committed to his community, volunteering with Fort Hays State’s Tiger Tots program.
In addition, he founded the “Maximizing Lives” nonprofit to support local children through free football camps and school supply drives.
The news of Isaiah Maxi’s sudden passing has deeply saddened both his family and the broader community.

Isaiah is survived by his loving family, who are asking for privacy and prayers as they navigate this devastating loss.
Isaiah Maxi is survived by his loving mother, Latasha Maxi, and his father, Kevin Johnson.
He also leaves behind his brothers, Malik Maxi and Jalen Maxi, his sister, Aaliyah Johnson, his maternal grandmother, Brenda Maxi, and his paternal grandparents, Samuel and Lorraine Johnson.
A large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends will continue to honor and carry his memory forward.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to causes that reflect Isaiah’s passion for youth empowerment and community service.
Funeral and memorial service arrangements will be announced in the coming days.
