Former Honaker High School head football coach Christopher Todd Tiller had been arrested and charged with multiple offenses following a disturbance and vehicle crash in Russell County, Virginia.
According to Sheriff Bill Watson, deputies responded to a call on Saturday, June 15, 2024, reporting a disturbance at the Valero in Hansonville.
When officers arrived, they interviewed two individuals who said another man involved in the dispute had already left the property.
Deputies later assisted one of the individuals with Magistrate services at the sheriff’s office.
Authorities issued a lookout for the third person reportedly involved in the altercation, who was believed to be intoxicated.
Deputies later located a vehicle matching the description traveling on Flats Circle in the Lebanon/Hansonville area.
Officers discovered the vehicle had been in a crash and, with assistance from the Virginia State Police, investigated the incident further.
Police identified the driver as Tiller, 47, of Honaker, and placed him under arrest.

He was charged with driving under the influence, destruction of property, and assault and battery connected to the earlier disturbance at Valero.
Tiller was booked into the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon and released later that day on a $10,000 bond.
The Russell County Public School System declined to comment on the situation, citing personnel policies.
Meanwhile, the Honaker Football Facebook page, which bills itself as “The Official Page of Honaker Football,” addressed the matter indirectly, posting:
“Honaker Football is alive and well. Adversity only makes us work harder #TigerRaid.”
