Chuck Teeters, a Memphis Police Officer and former collegiate athlete, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, following a tragic accident at an untimely age.
According to a GoFundMe page created by the Cookeville, Tennessee, community, Chuck Teeters, who was in Florida for a family vacation, was swept by the ocean earlier this month.
Furthermore, Chuck Teeters was immediately airlifted to a local hospital in Florida, where he received treatment until his passing on Tuesday morning.
Chuck Teeters, a Tennessee native, touched the lives of many through his remarkable athletic journey and his contributions to the community as a dedicated police officer.
He began his athletic journey from a very young age, excelling in multiple sports, and went on to become a great football player in high school and college, winning several honorable titles.
Chuck, a 1993 graduate of Germantown High School, played football for the boys’ varsity team, the Red Devils, leading his team to several victories.
He further continued his football career, attending the University of Memphis, from which he graduated in 1996 with a degree in Psychology.
Likewise, after graduation, Chuck Teeters began his career as a Police Officer, joining the Germantown Police Department in 1999.
After serving in his position for over two years, Chuck joined the Memphis Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit as a Detective in 2005 and held the position for eight years.
From 2013 until his recent passing, Chuck Teeters served as an Officer, investigator, and team leader at the Memphis Police’s Old Allen Task Force.

Chuck Teeters is survived by his longtime wife, Amy Ballard Teeters; three sons, Cole, Logan, and Austin; his sister; and the entire family.
While his wife, Amy, hasn’t shared any statement regarding the untimely demise of her beloved husband, as she is currently grieving, she often shares pictures of Chuck Teeters on social media expressing her love and pride for him.
Similarly, although Chuck Teeters didn’t pursue a career as a professional athlete, he guided all three of his sons —Austin, Cole, and Logan —to become exceptional athletes.
His sons, Cole and Logan Teeters, are thriving in their baseball journey, while his son, Austin Teeters, excels in basketball in high school.
Cole Teeters plays baseball for Cookeville High School’s boys varsity team, wearing jersey number 7 and playing as an infielder. He is set to graduate in 2026.
Likewise, Austin Teeters plays varsity basketball at Cookeville High School and is set to graduate in 2028, and Logan Teeters plays baseball for the TN Cavaliers.
Chuck Teeter’s contributions to the community as an exceptional athlete, police officer, and great father and coach to his sons will always be remembered.
