In a shocking case out of Mississippi, a former assistant basketball coach has admitted to serious crimes against a young student-athlete.
William Alexander, also known as Willie, pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy he coached.
The 50-year-old from Clinton now faces up to 110 years behind bars. This story highlights the betrayal of trust in a position meant to guide and protect young people.
The details emerged from an investigation that began in 2022.
On June 14 of that year, the victim’s mother went to the Clinton Police Department after her son opened up about the abuse.
The boy, a student-athlete at Clinton Christian Academy, where Alexander worked as a part-time assistant coach, said the abuse had been going on for several months.
It mostly happened at Alexander’s home in Clinton.
According to reports, Alexander groomed the teen with gifts and promises to make the situation seem normal.
He forced the boy into sexual acts and even took him on out-of-state trips to Dallas, Texas, and New Orleans, Louisiana.
There were plans for additional trips, including one to Disney World, which raised even more concerns about his intentions.
Things escalated quickly after the report. Alexander showed up unannounced at the victim’s home.
When confronted by the mother, he admitted to teaching the boy how to use a condom – a disturbing confession that only added to the evidence against him.
The very next day, Alexander left a basketball game he was coaching without explanation. The police then obtained a search warrant for his house.
What they found was alarming: sex toys, multiple recording devices, cellphones, laptops, tablets, lubricants, and even a hidden camera disguised inside a Glade air freshener in the bathroom.
In a van parked at the property, investigators discovered additional items, including silicone devices and personal lubricants. All of this pointed to a pattern of predatory behavior.
Alexander was taken into custody and later charged. He pleaded guilty to one count of sexual battery and two counts of exploitation of a minor.
Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens II announced the plea, emphasizing the importance of accountability.
In a statement, Owens said,
“A coach should be a role model, not a predator. By speaking up, this child is a hero who helped bring an abuser to justice. We will protect our children. We will protect our community, and we will hold abusers accountable.”
The office also gave special thanks to Detective Amanda Johansson from the Clinton Police Department for her thorough work on the case.
Sentencing is set for October 15, 2025, in the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
With the potential for 110 years in prison, this could mean Alexander spends the rest of his life locked away.

I was assaulted at a state prison while working as a case manager and there’s no accountability for the inmate. He is out and committing other crimes the Epstein files or protected and these women are horrified. I have seen countless of people in the educational, law-enforcement and judicial system with sex crimes, but get 1/3 of the time that he has gotten. Florida is trying to pass a law of a distance. I’m not mad about that, but it needs to be for whoever does the crime and not be selective in the charges. Lawmakers are soft on this crime even though he facing 110 years. We have to get tough on these crimes and protect our children and citizens. While at the same time make sure everyone gets the same reality.”
