Sebastian Telfair, a former NBA player, has had a complex personal life, particularly regarding his marriage to Samantha Rodriguez Telfair, also known as Sam.

They have two children: Sebastian Telfair Jr. and Samaya Telfair, who graduated from Timber Creek High School in 2023.

Beyond her role as a mother of two, Samantha is an accomplished Creative Director and Project Manager with expertise in merchandise operations, promotional development, and creative project management.

She graduated from St. John’s University in 2004 with a BS in Sports Management.

Since 2023, she has been the Promotional Development + Merchandise Operations Manager at L’Oréal in Los Angeles, California.

Samantha has also received licenses and certifications from the School of Style at LA Mashbox Studios, where she received comprehensive training in wardrobe styling, and from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) LA, where she studied Product Development-Professional Studies from 2009-10.

Additionally, she founded the brand “The Merger” in her professional career. In 2022, she received the Leader Entrepreneur of the Month award.

With 21.4K followers on Instagram, Samantha actively engages her audience by sharing moments from her life, including her children, career, fashion endeavors, and professional photoshoots.

After Years Of Marriage, Sebastian And Samantha Are No Longer Together

Sebastian and Samantha were officially divorced when Samantha filed for divorce in 2019, citing irreconcilable differences from their separation in 2018.

Samantha took a temporary restraining order against Sebastian before the divorce, saying he showed up at her house and smashed her windshield.

She stated in court documents that Sebastian had become increasingly hostile, unstable, and violent.

In 2019, Samantha and Sebastian’s ex-mistress, Caterina Scotto, testified against him in court.

During the hearing, Sebastian was supported by his then-girlfriend, LaBelle Chacon.

However, in 2021, Sebastian was seen leaving the Manhattan Federal Court with another woman who appeared to be pregnant.

In March 2023, Telfair pleaded guilty to healthcare fraud. He testified that he participated in the scam because he needed money to pay divorce lawyers.

Telfair stated:

“I needed the money for my legal fees, I was accused of a crime I didn’t commit. I was fighting for my life. I am still fighting for my life.”

Telfair was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in the healthcare fraud but is currently out on bond while awaiting a decision on his appeal.

In May 2019, Samantha Telfair claimed that Sebastian Telfair’s sister threatened to “kill my kids, cut my face,” leading to the sister’s arrest by the FBI.

This occurred because she testified against Sebastian in his NYC gun case.

Telfair Stated That 90% Of The Women Married To NBA Players Are Gold Diggers

Sebastian Telfair played in the NBA and the Chinese Basketball Association. In a Manhattan courtroom, he was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for gun possession.

During the sentencing, Telfair pleaded-:

“Please don’t take me from society right now,I am 34. I can go play in China for six years and take care of my family. I’m waiting for my daughter right now to get her period. Real mental illness because I wasn’t around. … She hasn’t even gotten her period yet.”

In January 2024, Sebastian Telfair stated that 90% of NBA wives are gold diggers, blaming NBA players for pursuing women who are primarily interested in their money.

He warned that a woman’s attitude changes once she gets a ring and noted the high divorce rate among NBA players.

Despite the challenges and controversies, those close to Telfair maintain that his good qualities outweigh his mistakes.

His brother, Turner, emphasized that Telfair’s arrest was problematic and expressed concern for his well-being.
