After six years of dating, former NBA legend Josh Smith proposed to his high school sweetheart, now wife, Alexandria Smith.
Josh Smith and Alexandria reportedly met in high school, and their relationship blossomed over time. They were lovers and best friends all at the same time.
After six years of being together, Josh thought it was the perfect time now that he popped the question to her.
Josh knew she was the one for him, as he said, “I knew I couldn’t be without her, so I decided to take the next step.“
Confident of his choice, Josh went on his knees to ask Alexandria to grow old with him. The former NBA star proposed to her on New Year’s Day.
During the proposal, he explained that he was looking forward to spending the next year and the rest of his life with her. To which Alexandria replied with an obvious YES.
Josh and Alexandria Exchanged Their Wedding Vows at a Traditional Christian Ceremony in 2010!
Josh and Alexandria walked down the aisle in a sophisticated wedding ceremony on July 31, 2010, at St. Regis Atlanta Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia.
Their big day took place in a grand hotel ballroom draped in flowing fabric and carpeted in white.
The entire decoration was minimalistic, with an arbor decorated with flowering branches dotted with roses, just as Alexandria wanted “pure and clean.”
Alexandria looked so beautiful, adorning a beautiful wedding gown accented with a cascading bouquet of snowy phalaenopsis orchids, that Josh was speechless when he first laid his eyes on her on their big day.
The couple exchanged their wedding vows in a traditional Christian ceremony. Not to mention, the ceremony concluded with a tradition where the pair jumped on the broom.
Since Josh is from the South, some of his favorites, like mac & cheese, fried chicken, and cornbread, were incorporated into the menu.
Josh and Alexandria expressed their full satisfaction with their attire, decor, and food, saying they wouldn’t do anything differently if they had any chance.
After their wedding, Josh and Alexandria welcomed four children, the youngest of whom was born in 2018.

Despite their seemingly beautiful married life, their relationship had gone sour around a decade of their marriage.
According to court documents, Josh cited their marriage was “irretrievably broken” with “no prospects for reconciliation.”
In his petition, he noted that he wanted joint legal and physical custody of their four children, with both of them paying support.
Likewise, he mentioned that they even had a prenuptial agreement before their wedding and asked for it to be enforced.
Alexandria was on board with the split but wanted primary custody and support money. She also wanted their house just for her and the kids, kicking Josh out.
When things were heating up, they both decided to drop the whole divorce without saying why.
On top of that, Josh shared a sweet Mother’s Day shoutout to Alexandria a few days later, confusing everyone.
Since then, any news surrounding their potential split has surfaced online.
