Former NFL Star Nick Mangold, who is now seeking a kidney transplant, has supportive parents, Vernon and Therese Mangold.

Nick Mangold recently revealed that he is battling chronic kidney disease, a condition he says dates back to a genetic defect diagnosed in 2006.

He has now reached the point where he is undergoing dialysis while he awaits a kidney transplant.

As none of his family members can donate, Mangold has made a public plea for a kidney donor (specifically someone with type O blood) via social media.

Nick has also shared instructions on how individuals can determine if they might be a match (through a form available at Columbia University Irving Medical Center).

Nick Mangold was born on January 13, 1984, in Centerville, Ohio.

Nick spent his early childhood in Dayton, Ohio, before moving to Kettering in the fourth grade.

His parents, Vernon Mangold and Therese Mangold, played a central role in shaping his values and work ethic.

While not much detail about his parents’ professions is revealed, it is reportedly said that his father worked as an engineer, while his mother, Therese, was a teacher.

Nick was the fourth child in the Mangold household and had three older siblings, each of whom helped guide and challenge him as he grew.

Growing up, Nick was known for his determination and leadership. He attended Archbishop Alter High School in Kettering, where he excelled in football and wrestling.

His parents were always present at his games, cheering him on.

While he credits his parents for his upbringing, he is now the parent of three children.

He shares three kids, Eloise, Anne, and RJ, with his wife, Jennifer Mangold.

Lastly, at the moment, Nick is battling with the transplant. While his family is not able to help him medically, they are there for emotional support.
